Britain denied reports that Russian naval forces fired warning shots close to one of its destroyers. Russia’s defence ministry claimed it dropped bombs and fired live rounds near HMS Defender, which it accused of intruding into its waters in the Black Sea. Britain’s defence ministry said the ship was sailing in Ukrainian waters; they had already been told of a planned Russian gunnery exercise some distance away.

Federal prosecutors indicted him for dodging taxes on millions of dollars in income—charges he denied, and claimed were politically motivated.

Dozens of people have reportedly been killed after the Ethiopian air force bombed a marketplace in Togoga, a town in the Tigray region. Ethiopia’s armed forces said that the strikes targeted “terrorists”, not civilians. Tigray has been ravaged by war since November, when fighting broke out between the federal government and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front, the region’s former ruling party.
