OPEC and its allies at last came to an agreement on future oil production. A quick meeting on July 1st to agree on higher quotas turned into a two-week stand-off between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The latest compromise will see OPEC+ pump an extra 400,000 barrels a day each month from August.
OPEC+ 국가들이 향후 산유량에 드디어 합의했다. 국가들은 7월 1일 증산에 합의하고자 했으나 사우디아라비아와 아랍에미리트(UAE) 간 갈등으로 2주 동안 교착 상태에 있었다. 이번 합의에 따라 8월부터 OPEC+ 국가들은 하루 40만 배럴 원유를 추가 생산할 것이다.

Although the waters are receding in the worst-hit parts of Germany, fresh floods have hit Bavaria, as well as Austria and Switzerland.

The comments came as New York state reported more than 1,000 new infections in 24 hours for the first time since mid-May, as the more contagious Delta variant takes hold.

Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak initially hoped not to self-isolate, but to join a pilot scheme that allows daily testing instead; public opprobrium forced a speedy U-turn. The app is pinging so many people it is blamed for labour shortages.

At least 30 people died in landslides that destroyed several houses after heavy rain in Mumbai. Rescuers in the Indian city are searching the rubble for survivors. The downpour, common during the country’s rainy season, is expected to continue over the coming days. Last year more than 1,500 Indians died in floods and monsoons.
