The government has identified rare earths as a strategic sector in order to build a supply chain that will rival that of China, long the market leader. Rare-earth minerals are essential to the manufacturing of such products as electric vehicles and smartphones.

They were highly infectious for 12 days; none of them developed serious symptoms.
