Trump Says Iran Should Have Made Deal Over Nuclear Ambitions Earlier (WSJ. 20250618)
President Trump said today that "Iran should have made a nuclear deal earlier," and that Iran has "got a lot of trouble." When asked by reporters whether he's decided to strike Iran's nuclear facilities, Trump said, "I may do it. I may not do it." Earlier today, Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, declared his country will not surrender and warned that any American military intervention would cause irreparable consequences. President Trump also renewed his criticism of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell today, hours before the Fed's policy setting council is to announce its latest interest rate decision. Trump called for a substantial rate cut, but said that he doubted Powell would do it. In a six three decision, the Supreme Court has upheld Tennessee's ban on gender transition treatments for minors. Chief Justice John Roberts wrote that the court would leave such complex issues to legislatures. The ruling aligns with other Trump administration policies targeting transgender rights. And the Commerce Department says US homebuilding dropped nearly 10% in May to 1.26 million. The decline was due to increased material costs from tariffs, higher labor costs from immigration crackdowns, and reduced buyer demand due to high interest rates.
