Pentagon Lifts Drone Technology Restrictions, Boosting U.S. Industry (WSJ. 202507011)
Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth has ordered the removal of any policies that slow down the development and deployment of Drones. That's according to a memo sent yesterday and viewed by The Wall Street Journal. The memo builds upon executive orders signed by President Trump last month, aimed at easing restrictions on U.S. made drones, and strengthening an industry that has struggled to compete with Chinese competitors. The order is expected to deliver a lift to defense technology companies specializing in drones and unmanned aerial vehicles. Ford Motor has recorded more safety recalls in the first six months of 2025 than any car company ever has in an entire calendar year. That's according to federal data. Yesterday, Ford issued a recall of 850,000 pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles because of a potential fuel pump failure. Overall, recalls across the auto industry have been rising with more than 1000 recorded in 2024 compared with roughly 800 a decade earlier. And President Trump is threatening to withhold his endorsement from any Republican senators who oppose the White House's 9.4 billion dollar package of DOGE cuts turning a planned vote next week into an explicit loyalty test. The proposal would codify some spending cuts made by the Trump administration as part of its Department of Government Eefficiency push effectively asking lawmakers to reverse spending they previously voted into law.
