President Trump's latest tariff threats knocked stocks off their record levels. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 279 points to close at 44,372. A Kraft Heinz spokesperson said the company has been evaluating potential strategic transactions. Shares rose 2.5%. Jeans maker Levi Strauss said it boosted its annual outlook after strong results for the first half of the year. Shares jumped more than 11%. Shares of AMC Entertainment also surged about 11% after Wedbush analysts upgraded its stock. The movie theater chain restructured its debt and secured new financing earlier this month. And Ford shares slipped 1%. The automaker has recorded more safety recalls in the first half of this year than any car company ever has in a calendar year.
