내가 좋아하는 노래다. '나니아 연대기'의 엔딩에 나와서 유명해진 걸로 알고 있다. (그러나 나는 왜인지 영화에서는 이 노래를 기억하지 못했다.) 

내가 특별히 좋아하는 구절은 "It started out as a feeling (그저 사소한 느낌으로 시작했어)
Which then grew into a hope (그리고 그 느낌은 희망으로 성장했고)
Which then turned into a quiet thought (그 희망은 조용한 생각이 되었어)
Which then turned into a quiet word(그리고 그 생각은 단어가 되었고)

And then that word grew louder and louder(그 단어는 점점 큰 소리가 돼)
'Til it was a battle cry(전쟁같은 울음이 될 때까지)

I'll come back(다시 돌아올게)"

으로, 처음 이 부분을 듣고 망치로 한 대 맞은 것 같은 느낌에 한참을 멍하게 있었던 기억이 난다. 

그저 작은 내 안의 느낌이었던 무엇인가가 자라고 자라 전쟁같은 울음이 되는 것. 천둥같은 울음소리를 울부짖으며 내 안에서 존재를 알리는 그것. 소명(the call). 

얼마나 사실인지!

그저 스쳐 지날 수 있는 아주 작은 흔들리는 느낌 하나가 끊임없이 자라고 나라 내 안에서 

포효하는 울음을 내뱉는 실체가 되는 것.

얼마나 아름다운지.

And follow the light(그 빛을 따라가)

Your call will be a star that you pick and follow on the dark horizon.

우리의 소명은 우리가 어두운 수평선에서 고르고 따라갈 그 별 하나일 것이다.

전쟁같은 울음이 우리가 따라갈 유일한 빛이 된다.

어두운 밤길을 밝혀줄 별의 빛을 잘 보려면 

결국 우리는 우리 안의 울림을 잘 들어야 한다.
