The first day of another sea
To the sea a little by the side out of the ground of Haenyeo school
School day being forecasted to rain. The alarm goes off half an hour before the time to go to school. It was a notice that the ground of Haenyeo school waves are high, we're going to enter the sea being a little far west. Wow! I was so excited to hear that it was a different sea! Nevertheless we can't go into the sea out of Kwi-duk-ri, Han-rim-eup. As we are officially and unofficially the student of Haenyeo school who can collect seafood, to go into another field of Haenyeo and to collect seafood is to disturb Haenyeo, the owner of the other seafield. And we go into the sea 1 km west of the Haenyeo school. Asking Haenyeo uncle, she says this is also where Haenyeo water work.
The rapidly changing weather in Jeju
Originally there was a rain forecast. But it had a very pretty skyblue color. 13 o'clock sharp. It was a scorching sunny day.
Going into the water with excitement, the sky quickly a little before 14 o'clock. Having never rained in more than 2 months, we had lucky weather every Saturday, so we tried water working for the first time in the rain. I was wet anyway, so it didn't matter if it rained or not. The seascape another sea
Even in the sea, it's fun to find the trace of lava. I saw turtle back pattern which I didn't see in the playground of Haenyeo school. If we look at the columnar jointing from the side like Dae-po Columnar jointing, they are lines that stretch vertically, if we look at them from above it shows the hexagonal turtle back pattern. It is made by the lava cooling quickly by meeting the sea and cracking up.
They say that a lot of anchovies were caught by Wondam(원담, stone wall around the shore). I see why a lot of anchovies were caught. They are positioned shallowly like this, and they are coming close to the shore. And they become Mel-Jeot(satted anchovies) dipped in Jeju black pork. It's delicious when eating it, but above all when meetibg a flock of anchovies silver-glittering, fast-moving in the sea, I get excited together.

Today as soon as Haenyeo uncle of our group came, "Are you happy to go into the new sea, instead of going into the same place all the time?" she asked. And we answered loudly, "YES!!!"
She dived continuously, picked up seafood, and put in students' Tae-wak. Her Tae-wak was empty all the way until we came out. She was quiet, but she showed her tsundere side. If we ask about shellfish we've never seen before, she tells us its name. The question accompanying its name is "Can we eat it?"
Moving a lot in the water consumes a lot energy, most of them are unnecessary moving. When a person falls into the water, if he keeps still, he can float and can come out to the surface, but struggling with embrrassment and moving a lot, he slows up and his strength is gone. So there are many causes of problem. The Haenyeo uncle shows minimal compared to the Haenyeo school students not being as good at swimming as Haenyeo with 50 years of experience. The Haenyeo-s' underwater movement are very very touching.
I like that the surface of water keeps popping and changes with drops of water, and the sound of rain is made.
Going into shallow water she picked up top shell, and in deep water she dives without a blink or qualm and comes out. She is the highest dignity today as well, and she is the most wonderful.
Next week Haenyeo will sow the seeds of sea urchin to be collected in 2022. "How many natural sea urchins is there if they don't sow it's seeds?" I asked. She said, "Almost never." And as abalone dies all, it is no use sowing seeds. She say that there has not been a single Haenyeo to pick up an abalone this year. None of us has ever seen it. "Haenyeo picking up an abalone" has become an old saying.
