작업실에 놀러 와!
오픈스튜디오 창작드로잉 전시프로젝트 #2 <선 넘는 드로잉>
초대의 글:
내가 하는 활동이 ‘영선아트’라는 나의 장르가 되고, ‘이영선창작스튜디오’가 나의 현재를 보여주는 작품의 일부가 되기까지 수년간의 고민과 여정이 있었다. 보이는 것의 결과와 함께 그 이면의 것에 대한 것이 켜켜이 쌓여 나의 현재를 이어가고 있다. 두 번째를 맞는 올 해의 오픈스튜디오 프로젝트 <선 넘는 드로잉>은 나의 공간과 시간이 외부의 시간과 공간, 혹은 나의 세계와 타인의 세계가 만나는 접점이다. 한 개인의 취향이 녹아 있는 보이지 않는 점과 같은 나의 작업실이 궁금한 이들이 잠시 들러가며 간단한 다과와 함께 소소한 교류를 할 수 있는 날이 되기를 바란다.
기획의도:
‘선’은 좁은 의미에서 ‘드로잉’이라는 단어가 상기시키는 선(line)을 의미하기도 하지만, 어떤 것의 경계(boundary)를 의미하기도 한다. 나는 ‘드로잉’이란 단어에서 ‘그린다’는 행위와 내재된 감각을 ‘끌어낸다 ‘는 의미에 착안한다. 이번 프로젝트에 있어 ‘드로잉’은 특히 자유, 찰나의 순간과 감흥, 순수, 어떤 것의 본질을 의미한다. 나의 재료는 캔버스와 물감만이 아니라 내가 주로 시간을 보내는 작업실 공간의 표면을 도화지로 삼아 내 몸과 글과 오브제 등으로 그려대는 것이다. 마음에 차오르는 영감을 점, 선, 색채를 중심으로 하는 자유로운 드로잉을 통해 실험하고 표현함으로써 드로잉의 기존 개념, 매체와 표현범위, 작품발표 및 관람의 방식, 작가적 역량을 더욱 확장하고자 시도했다.
작업노트:
나는 일상을 세밀하게 느끼고 관찰하며 생각을 글로 적는다. 그리고 특히 인상적인 것들은 낙서나 사진 등으로 기록한다. 그런 일상이 쌓이고 녹아서 현재의 영감을 만들어낸다. 그중에서도 가장 관심을 끄는 것은 자연으로서, 자연의 색채, 프렉탈, 유기적인 곡선, 계절의 변화를 좋아한다. 또한, 내가 내 맘대로 만든 하얀 도화지 같은 스튜디오에서 한껏 혼자 상상하는 시간을 즐기는 것이 나의 주된 창작과정이다. 나의 스튜디오는 작업의 과정이자 결과물이고, 작업실이자 작품이 된다. 이번 작품에서 건물의 내외를 잘 관찰하여 외부세계와 만나는 지점과 방법에 대해 고민해 보았다.

<Drawing Beyond Lines>
Project Intent: The term ‘line’ can refer to lines in traditional drawing but also signifies boundaries. In this project, I focus on the act of conventional drawing and the meaning of ‘bringing forth’ something. Additionally, I interpret ‘drawing’ as freedom, fleeting moments and impressions, purity, and the essence of things. My drawing materials are not just canvas and acrylic colors but also the surfaces of my studio space, where I draw with my body, text, and objects. By experimenting and expressing the inspiration that fills my heart through free drawing centered on dots, lines, and colors, I aim to expand the traditional concepts, media, and scope of drawing, the methods of presenting and viewing works, and my artistic capabilities.
Artist’s Note: I meticulously observe and feel daily life, writing down my thoughts. I record impressive findings as doodles or photos. This accumulation of daily life melts into my present inspiration. I am most drawn to nature, especially its colors, fractals, organic curves, and seasonal changes. I also enjoy spending time alone in my studio, which I have designed like a blank canvas, imagining things freely. My studio is both the process and the result of my work, and it becomes both a workspace and a piece of art. In this project, I have carefully observed the interior and exterior of the building, contemplating the intersections and methods of connecting with the outside world.
Invitation: I took a journey of years contemplating my artistic activities until I called them a genre, ‘Young-Sun Art,’ and ‘Young Sun Lee Creative Studio’ has become part of my current artwork. The visible results and the layers of what lies beneath continue to build my present. This year’s Open Studio Project <Drawing Beyond Lines> is the intersection of my space and time with external time and space or my world with others. I hope that those curious about my studio, which exists like an invisible dot in the city filled with personal taste, will stop by and enjoy a simple exchange with some refreshments.
