내 선조들과의 만남
나는 그레베낙 공동묘지에서
가족 예배당으로 올라간다
나무 문은 닫혀 있다
내 선조들을 볼 때
그러나 나를 방해하지는 않는다
그들은 바나트라고 불리는
이 마른 해저 위로
화관을 쓴 숫양을 탄다
그들은 사람들보다
늑대와 더 잘 지낸다
그리고 매일 아침 매일 저녁
태양에만 절한다
그들은 짐승기름을 바른
대마 셔츠를 입는다
그리고 고귀한 영주들의 발걸음으로 걷는다
나는 그들을 만나러 간다
그들이 누구이며 무슨 일을 하는지 듣기 위해
MEETING WITH MY FOREFATHERS
I climb up to the family chapel
In Grebenac cemetery
The wooden doors are closed
Seeing my forefathers
But don't prevent me
They ride garlanded rams
Over this dry sea-bed
Called Banat
They get on better with wolves
Than with people
And bow only to the sun
Each morning and evening
They wear hemp shirts
Smeared with tallow
And walk with the step of highborn lords
I go to meet them
To hear who and what they are
