뉴욕타임스는 <국가들이 영토를 차지하기 위해 앞 다퉈 싸우던 세계 정치의 먼 시대가 갑자기 그리 멀지 않은 것처럼 보인다> 제목으로 “세계가 트럼프의 귀환을 준비하면서, 트럼프의 집착과 19세기 후반 미국 제국주의의 먼 시대 사이의 유사점이 점점 더 중요해지고 있다”고 8일 보도했다.
