Have you ever heard about the AstraZeneca vaccine? AZ vaccine, (Astra vaccine) is a covid-19 vaccine that AstraZeneca, an Austrian pharmaceutical company made. The AstraZeneca vaccine was created by weakening the adenovirus that chimpanzees suffer from. It is designed to look similar to the Covid-19 virus so that the body can quickly build up its immune system while there is no fear of disease even if the vaccine enters the body.

The main way AstraZeneca makes our bodies immune to Covid-19 is in Peplomer. Peplomer is a bumpy protein that protrudes from the viral envelope. First, scientists extract genes from peplomers on the surface of the coronavirus. Thus, the gene we've extracted is the AstraZeneca vaccine, which you inject into the patient, and the vaccine goes into the cell and induces the body's cells to make a new peplomer. Our body's vaccine system destroys cells with this new peplomer, and our body has antibodies against the Covid-19 virus.

AstraZeneca Vaccine was first launched in South Korea in early March for healthy adults. On March 23th, starting with President Moon Jae-in and the Noble lady Kim Jung-sook getting vaccinated, the inoculation has been extended to older people aged 65 and over. As of the 26th, many of the citizens who had been vaccinated had been getting AstraZeneca Vaccine, with 707,481 vaccinated. Health authorities stated that they planned to complete 12 million vaccinations by the end of the second quarter.

Meanwhile, especially in European countries, cases of side effects of thrombosis have been reported in people who have been vaccinated AstraZeneca. Thrombus is the final product of blood hemostasis through the blood clotting process.

In general, blood clots produced in the body disappear naturally, but if the number of blood clots increases due to diseases, they cannot dissolve them all in the body, causing various diseases. As of the 31st of last month, 62 cases of cerebral sinus thrombosis were reported out of 9.2 million vaccinations of AstraZeneca. Austria, Norway, and other European countries have suspended vaccinations due to the worries of AstraZeneca.

Professor Mark Slivka in Oregon university and Stephen Mull in North Carolina university stated that ten to twenty cases of blood clot accidents seem to occur due to the vaccination on 23rd. Marco Cabereli, the manager of the vaccine strategy clarified that there’re much more cases of blood clot side effects than expected. He also stated that causal relationships between the AstraZeneca vaccine and blood clot side effects are becoming clear, simultaneously saying that he still did not find out why the blood clot occurs when vaccinated through Italian media.

On this, the AstraZeneca company stated that no results showing that the danger of blood clot increases is found based on 10million experimental data in a week since Australia stopped vaccinating. AstraZeneca imparted that they are skeptical about the danger of blood clots and are waiting for cooperation and assessment with health authorities and countries who have stopped vaccinating. Emer Cooke, the chief of EMA said that AZ vaccines have no blood clot side effects. He also that even if it has, the advantages it gives are much bigger. Emer Cooke is urging each country in Europe to resume the vaccination.

Many side effects of AstraZeneca are being reported other than the side effects of thrombosis. 1.5% of people who are vaccinated with AstraZeneca reported that they had experienced fever, muscle pain, etc. after vaccination. Nevertheless, we can’t give up the AstraZeneca vaccine because of production expenses and maintenance expenses. AstraZeneca vaccine is not only cheaper but also easier to be stored than other vaccines since its storage temperature is 2~8 celsius. Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters said that people vaccinated with AstraZeneca who reported thrombosis are not higher than the Natural incidence rate of occurrence of thrombosis and that they will resume vaccination of AstraZeneca as soon as vaccines are retained. The additional supply of AstraZeneca vaccines was planned to be provided on March 30, but it was delayed three weeks, and supply was reduced. That is because the approval and transfer were delayed.
