추석은 흔히 ‘한국의 추수감사절’이라 불리지만,
그 말만으로는 다 담을 수 없습니다.
추석은 감사의 날이자, ‘돌아가는 날’입니다.

공기가 차분해지고 달이 차오르는 계절,
사람들은 저마다의 고향으로 돌아갑니다.
그곳에는 여전히 자신을 기억하는 시간들이 있고,
식탁 위에는 음식뿐 아니라 웃음과 기억이 함께 놓입니다.
밥과 과일, 노래와 침묵.
그 모든 것 속에는 ‘함께 있음’의 다정함이 깃들어 있습니다.

이 계절에 감사한다는 것은
누군가가 우리를 조용히 지탱해왔음을 인정하는 일입니다.
기다려준 친구,
곁에서 묵묵히 함께한 반려동물,
힘든 날에 미소를 건넸던 낯선 사람들.
그들에게 보내는 감사는 거창한 의식이 아니라,
우리가 다시 집으로 가지고 돌아가는 따뜻한 숨결입니다.

추석은 말합니다.
다정함은 여전히 우리 곁에 있다고.
날이 짧아지고 공기가 차가워져도
우리에겐 나눌 빛이 남아 있다고.

On Chuseok, and the quiet act of giving thanks

Chuseok is often called Korean Thanksgiving,
but that translation misses its softness.
It is not just about gratitude —
it is about return.

Every autumn, when the air sharpens and the moon swells,
families travel back to the places where their roots still remember them.
They gather around tables that hold more than food —
they hold time, laughter, and memory.
There is rice, fruit, song, and silence.
There is the understanding that love,

when shared simply, is enough.

To give thanks in this season
is to recognize how quietly others have carried us.
The friends who waited,
the pets who listened,
the strangers who smiled on the hardest mornings.
We offer them our gratitude,
not as ceremony,
but as something that returns home with us —
like light, or breath, or the scent of the earth after rain.

Chuseok reminds us that tenderness endures.
That even when days grow cold and brief,
we have enough light to share.
