Hello, dear teachers of the language school in Malta.
Today is a peaceful Saturday.

As I unwind from a busy week and enjoy the calm of the weekend, I find myself thinking of all of you who taught me with such passion and dedication during my time in Malta.

Of all the people I met during my one-year stay, it is you—the teachers at the language schoolwho left the strongest impression on me.

Lately, I’ve been sharing my experiences of life in Malta through a series of essays on a Korean platform called Brunch Story. To my surprise, the number of overseas visits to my blog through Google has suddenly increased in the past week.
It made me wonder—could it be some of my former teachers in Malta who have found and read my stories?

Though the essays are primarily written for a Korean audience, hoping to share what it’s like to live in Europe as a foreigner, I want to sincerely thank you if you have taken an interest in my writing.

Please understand that some parts of my essays may feel slightly exaggerated or carry unintended emotional tones. I only wanted to convey my personal experiences honestly, and I hope you can view them with an open heart.

Overall, my time at the University of Malta’s Language School was deeply satisfying. I am especially grateful for the way all of you taught without bias—regardless of a student’s race or background—and for your constant efforts to make learning enjoyable and fair for everyone.

If any parts of my writing unintentionally gave the wrong impression or seemed critical, I truly hope no one felt hurt by it. That was never my intention.

Although it hasn’t been long since I left Malta, I already miss you and often think about going back. But now, I must return to my reality in Korea and face the responsibilities that lie ahead.
I’m unable to contact each teacher individually, so I hope this letter serves as a heartfelt thank-you to everyone I met during my time at the Language School.

It’s been four months since I left Malta, and I still carry warm memories of my time with you. To all the teachers who taught me and all the staff who remember me—I bow my head in deep gratitude.

Please stay healthy and continue to inspire many more students with your kindness and dedication.

And… please don’t forget me.

몰타의 랭귀지스쿨 선생님들께

안녕하세요, 몰타 랭귀지스쿨 선생님 여러분.
오늘은 한가로운 토요일입니다.

주중의 바쁜 일정을 마치고 여유로운 주말을 보내다 보니, 문득 몰타에서 열정적으로 가르쳐 주시던 선생님들이 떠올랐습니다.

제가 몰타에서 머물렀던 1년의 시간 동안 가장 인상 깊게 기억에 남는 분들이 바로 여러분, 랭귀지스쿨 선생님들이기 때문입니다.

최근 저는 제가 한국의 브런치 스토리에 연재하고 있는 몰타 생활 에세이를 통해 많은 한국 구독자분들과 소통하고 있습니다. 흥미로운 점은, 일주일 사이에 제 글을 구글을 통해 접속한 해외 방문자 수가 갑자기 크게 늘었다는 사실입니다.
이를 보며 혹시 몰타에서 저를 가르쳐 주셨던 선생님들이 제 글을 찾아 읽고 계신 건 아닐까, 조심스레 추측해 보았습니다.

제 글은 한국 구독자들을 대상으로, 외국인으로서 몰타에서의 삶과 언어학교에서의 경험을 솔직하게 담아낸 이야기입니다. 만약 그 안에 과장된 부분이나, 의도치 않게 불편하게 느껴질 수 있는 표현이 있었다면 너그러이 이해해 주시기를 바랍니다.

제가 몰타대학교 랭귀지스쿨에서 보낸 시간은 전반적으로 매우 만족스러웠습니다. 무엇보다도, 선생님들께서 인종이나 출신에 대한 편견 없이 모든 학생들을 평등하게 대해 주셨고, 언제나 최선을 다해 수업을 이끌어 주셨다는 점에 깊이 감사드립니다.

혹시나 제 에세이 속 작은 일화들이 특정인을 평가하는 내용으로 비쳐 누군가에게 상처가 되지 않기를 진심으로 바랍니다.

몰타를 떠난 지 그리 오래되지 않았음에도, 여전히 선생님들이 그립고 다시 돌아가고 싶은 마음이 큽니다. 하지만 지금은 한국에서의 일상과 새로운 현실 속에서 살아가고 있습니다. 모든 선생님들께 일일이 연락을 드릴 수 없어 이렇게 글을 통해 인사를 전하게 된 점, 양해 부탁드립니다.

저를 가르쳐 주셨던 선생님들, 그리고 저를 기억해 주시는 모든 관계자분들께, 몰타를 떠나온 지 4개월이 지난 지금, 다시 한번 진심을 담아 감사 인사를 드립니다.

여러분 모두 항상 건강하시고, 앞으로도 많은 학생들에게 따뜻한 배움의 시간을 선물해 주시기를 바랍니다.
그리고... 저를 기억해 주세요.
