잘 있거라, 마음씨 고운 떡갈나무여¹!
잘 있거라, 유구한 전원이여!
어느 사이에 지나가버린 나날의
뒤 없는 즐거움이여!
가지가지 기쁨을 맛본
뜨리고르쓰꼬예여, 잘 있거라!
이렇게 즐거움을 누리고저
그대를 영구히 잊어버릴 수 있으랴?
나는 그대의 회상을 안고 가노라,
그러나 마음은 그대 품에 안겨 남겨두고 가노라.
언제고 다시 나는
너의 전원으로 돌아오려 하노니,

우정에 가득찬 자유와 기쁨과
미와 리지의 신봉자 – 나는

￭떡갈나무¹-떡갈나무(Oak)는 참나무과 참나무속에 속하는 갈잎큰키나무이다. 열매인 도토리는 식용으로 쓰인다.
•이 詩는 딱히 제목이 별도로 없어서 시의 첫 구절을 제목으로 삼은 시다. 1817년 7월 리체이 졸업 뒤 푸시킨은 어머니 영지인 미하일로프스꼬예 마을로 떠났다. 여기에서 그는 여지주인 쁘라스비야 오시뽀바 여사가 딸들과 함께 살고 있는 이웃 소유지 뜨리고르스꼬예(Trigorskoye) 마을로 찾아가곤 하였다. 이 시는 그때의 감정을 페테르부르크에 돌아가 회상하며 쓴 것이다.
•뜨리고르스꼬예 마을은 미하일롭스코예에서 약 3~4km 떨어진 곳에 있다. 25살의 젊은 푸쉬킨이 지루하기 짝이 없는 미하일롭스코예 영지에서 유모 아리나와 둘이서만 시간을 보내기는 너무 적적했다. 푸시킨은 거의 매일 말을 타거나 걸어서 뜨리고르스꼬예의 오시포프와 울프의 집을 찾았다. 그곳은 푸시킨의 ‘놀이터’였다.
한편 푸시킨의 시 <삶이 그대를 속일지라도>는 뜨리고르스꼬예 마을의 여지주 쁘라스비야 오시뽀바의 딸 예프쁘라끄시야(Yevpraxia)의 앨범에 쪽지에 쓰여서 꽂혀있었다고 한다.
