이사야 45장 7절
When God Is the Answer
이사야 45장 7절 : 나는 빛도 짓고 어둠도 창조하며, 평안도 만들고 재앙도 창조하나니, 나는 여호와라 이 모든 일을 행하는 자니라.
우리는 살아가며 수없이 많은 ‘왜’라는 질문을 던집니다. 왜 이런 일이 벌어지는지, 왜 고레스인지, 왜 지금은 하나님이 침묵하시는지. 고통과 고난, 이해할 수 없는 현실 앞에서 우리는 정말 끝없이 많은 ‘왜’를 품게 됩니다.
욥기에서 하나님은 욥의 ‘왜’라는 질문 앞에 다소 엉뚱하게 들리는 대답을 하십니다. 자연의 신비와 생명의 질서, 우주의 운행에 대해 말씀하신 것입니다. 또 열왕기에서도 엘리야가 ‘왜’라고 묻던 순간 하나님은 질문에 대한 대답대신 강풍과 지진, 불이 지나간 뒤 들려오는 세미한 소리로 자신을 드러내십니다.
하나님은 욥과 엘리야의 질문에 논리적으로 응답하지 않으셨습니다. 대신 그 모든 역사 너머에서 자신이 누구이신지를 계시하십니다.
문제 앞에서 우리는 하나님의 해명을 듣고 싶어 하지만 정작 하나님을 진실로 만나는 순간에는 그런 설명이 더 이상 필요하지 않게 됩니다. 하나님의 존재 자체가 해답이 되기 때문입니다.
우리는 ‘왜 이런 일이 벌어졌는가’라는 해답을 찾으려 하지만 하나님은 우리에게 그 해답을 주시는 분이 누구이신지를 아느냐고 되려 우리에게 물으십니다. 하나님은 우리가 기대하는 방식으로 대답하시는 대신 당신의 존재를 계시함으로써 우리를 근원적인 신뢰의 자리로 이끄시는 것입니다.
하나님은 구원의 방법이 아니라 그 구원의 시작이시며 마지막이심을 우리에게 말씀하고 계십니다.
그래서 그 하나님을 아는 지식이, 우리를 다시 살아가게 합니다. 성경을 통해 점점 더 깊이 만나게 되는 하나님께 오늘도 감사드립니다.
Isaiah 45:7 "I form the light and create darkness. I bring peace and create disaster. I, the Lord, do all these things."
As we live, we find ourselves constantly asking why.
Why is this happening?
Why Cyrus?
Why is God silent right now?
Pain, suffering, and incomprehensible realities give rise to endless “why” questions in our hearts.
In the book of Job, when Job desperately asks why, God answers in a way that almost feels unrelated.
He speaks of the mysteries of nature, the order of life, and the movements of the universe.
In the book of Kings, when Elijah asks why, God doesn’t give him a direct answer either.
Instead, after the wind, the earthquake, and the fire, God reveals Himself in a gentle whisper.
God doesn’t respond to Job or Elijah with logical explanations.
Rather, He reveals who He is, beyond and through all history.
When we stand before life’s hardest questions, we long for explanations from God.
But when we truly encounter Him, explanations become unnecessary.
God’s presence itself becomes the answer.
We seek answers to the question, “Why is this happening?”
But God asks us in return, “Do you know who I am, the one who holds the answer?”
Instead of responding in the ways we expect, God leads us to a deeper place to trust in Him at the most foundational level.
He reminds us that He is not just the means to salvation.
He is the beginning and the end of it.
And it is this knowledge of God, not answers, but God Himself, that gives us life again.
Today, I’m grateful for the God who reveals Himself more deeply through His Word.
