96. 도를 깨달으면 세상이 어떻게 보이나요?

(If one attains the Tao, how does the world look?)

도를 깨달은 자

세상을 보지 못하고

도를 찾는 자

세상을 두리번거리지.

The one who has realized the Tao

cannot see the world

The one who is searching for the Tao

restlessly looks around the world.

97. 고통과 불행은 왜 존재하는 걸까요?

(Why do suffering and unhappiness exist?)

내가 있어 쾌락과 행복이 있고

내가 있어 고통과 불행이 있다

나로부터 시작되었으니

나에서 끝나리.

Because I exist, there is pleasure and happiness

Because I exist, there is suffering and unhappiness

As it began from me

So shall it end with me.

98. 진정한 자유란 무엇일까요?

(What is true freedom?)

내 일찍이 자유를 찾았으나

그로 인해 갇혔고

갇힘을 받아들였더니

풀려났네

Long ago, I searched for freedom

and because of that, I was trapped

When I accepted the entrapment

I was set free

99. "도를 아십니까?"

("Do you know the Tao?")

한 때 나는 지하철에서 들었네

도를 아십니까?

내가 안다고 말했더니

그자가 도망가더군.

나는 도를 아는 걸까?

그자는 도를 아는 걸까?

Once, I heard on the subway

"Do you know the Tao?"

When I said, "Yes, I do"

The man ran away.

Do I know the Tao?

Does that man know the Tao?

100. 마지막으로 하고 싶은 말.

(My parting words.)

침묵이 꽃비를 흩날리고

웃음이 바위를 춤추게 하네

한 잔 더 받으시게

시간은 넉넉하니.

Silence scatters a rain of flowers

Laughter makes the boulders dance

Have another glass

There is plenty of time.
