Spring of Seooreung

2016    2017    2019    2021

The spring of Seooreung begins as green sprouts rise on the lawn around Jeongjagak Pavilion, which had been dry all winter. I idly stroke the spring budding out from the yellow ground, slowly turning to green. The cherry trees lined up on both sides of the road to Sunchangwon passing through Jaesil exhibit the peak of the spring in Seooreung. Walking down the cherry blossoms covering the sky, you would feel that you've entered the middle of the season. Cherry blossom rain showers around the end of spring every year, so I visit Seooreung at dawn every spring to capture countless cherry blossom leaves flying in the spring breeze around the time when the sun rises.

When you think of the royal tomb as literally the tomb of the king, it's scary. But the Seooreung Royal Tomb in spring is nothing more than brightness and warmth. In contrast to the noisy spring in the middle of the city center, the spring of Seooreung silently comes and also silently finds its way out when the time comes. Seooreung is a resting place for spring where it reposes for a while in tranquility every year until it realizes that summer has arrived. Every year, I make farewell to summer in Seooreung because there is no better place to send an old season and welcome a new season.
