바울이 어렸을 때 부모님은 그에게 하나님에 대해 가르쳐주었습니다.
바울은 교회에서 하나님과 하나님의 계명에 대해 더 많은 것을 듣고 배웠습니다.
그는 성경에 있는 하나님에 대한 모든 것을 배우기 위해 노력했습니다.
좀 더 자라자, 바울은 학교에서 하나님과 하나님의 계명에 대해 배우게 되었습니다.
바울은 하나님의 계명을 잘 지키면 의로운 사람이 될 거라고 생각했습니다.
바울은 바리새파 지도자가 되었습니다.
바리새인의 법을 잘 지키는 자신을 하나님이 사랑하실 거라고 바울은 생각했습니다.
어느 날 바울은 예수가 하나님의 아들이라고 사람들이 말하는 것을 들었습니다.
그들이 말하길, 예수가 죽고 다시 살아나 인간의 죗값을 치른 것은 세상에 의로운 사람이 아무도 없기 때문이라는 것이었습니다.
그는 예수를 믿는 사람들을 잡아들이기 시작했습니다.
그날도 바울은 예수를 따르는 사람들을 찾아내기 위해 다메섹이라는 도시로 향하고 있었습니다.
갑자기 하늘로부터 내려온 밝은 빛이 그의 주변을 비추었습니다.
바울은 땅에 쓰러졌습니다. 그 빛이 너무도 밝아 그는 앞을 볼 수가 없었습니다.
그때, "바울아! 바울아! 너는 왜 나와 맞서는 일들을 하느냐?"라는 목소리가 들렸습니다.
"당신은 누구요?" 바울이 말했습니다.
그러자 그 목소리가 대답했습니다. "나는 예수다. 네가 괴롭히려는 그가 바로 나다. 당장 일어나 시내로 들어가라. 네가 할 일을 알려줄 사람이 있을 것이다."
하나님은 그 누구도 늘 의로울 수 없다는 걸 바울로 하여금 이해하게 하셨습니다.
아무도 의롭지 않기에, 하나님은 예수를 보내 우리를 죄에서 구원하셨습니다.
When Paul was a boy, his parents taught him about God.
At the synagogue Paul listened and learned more about God and God's laws.
Paul tried to learn everything the Bible taught about God.
When he was older, Paul went to school to learn more about God and His laws.
Paul thought if he obeyed enough of God's commands then he would be righteous.
He became a Pharisee.
Paul thought God loved him because he obeyed the laws of the Pharisees.
One day, Paul heard people say Jesus is God's Son.
They said Jesus died and came to life to pay for people's sins because no one is righteous.
Paul began to arrest people who believed in Jesus.
One day, Paul traveled to a city called Damascus to find Jesus' followers.
Suddenly, a very bright light from heaven flashed around Paul.
He fell to the ground. It was so bright. He could not see.
He heard a voice say "Paul! Paul! Why are you doing things against me?"
Paul said, "Who are you?"
The voice answered, "I am Jesus. I am the One you are trying to hurt. Get up now and go into the city. Someone there will tell you what you must do."
God helped Paul understand that no person can do everything right.
God sent Jesus to save us because no one is righteous.
