바울은 예수를 사랑했습니다.
바울은 예수가 그에게 맡긴 일을 하고 싶었습니다. 그것은 사람들에게 예수의 말을 전하는 것이었습니다.
바울 안에 있는 성령이 그가 용기를 내도록 도왔습니다.
바울과 실라가 예수의 말을 전하기 위해 빌립보에 있을 때였습니다.
그들이 길을 가고 있는데 한 여자가 그들을 따라오기 시작했습니다.
그녀 안에는 악한 영이 있었습니다. 그 악한 영은 바울과 실라가 사람들에게 예수의 말을 전하는 것을 싫어했습니다.
바울이 그 여자를 바라보며 악한 영에게 말했습니다. "예수 그리스도의 이름으로 말하니, 이 여자에게서 나오라." 그 즉시 악령이 여자에게서 나갔습니다.
그러나 화를 내는 사람들도 있었습니다. 그들은 도시의 관리들에게 달려가 바울과 실라가 법을 어겼다고 고했습니다.
군인들이 바울과 실라를 때리고 발에 무거운 쇠사슬을 채워 감옥에 가두었습니다.
바울과 실라는 하나님에게 기도하고 찬송하기 시작했습니다.
그러자 갑자기 사방이 흔들리기 시작했습니다. 지진이 일어난 것입니다.
감옥 문이 열리고, 죄수들을 묶었던 쇠고랑도 모두 풀렸습니다.
바울이 말했습니다. "잠깐만! 도망치지 마시오. 여기 남읍시다. 우리가 떠나면 간수가 곤경에 처할 것이오."
바울의 말에 죄수들은 모두 감옥에 남았습니다.
이때, 간수가 잠에서 깨어 감옥 문이 열린 것을 보았습니다. 그는 죄수들이 모두 도망갔다고 생각했습니다.
그때 바울이 외쳤습니다. "우리 모두 여기 있소!"
간수가 감옥 안으로 달려와 죄수들이 그대로 있는 것을 보았습니다.
그는 바울과 실라 앞에 엎드렸습니다. "어떻게 하면 제가 구원받을 수 있습니까?" 간수가 물었습니다.
"주님이신 예수를 믿으시오. 그러면 구원받을 것입니다." 바울이 간수에게 말했습니다.
간수는 바울과 실라를 자기 집으로 데리고 가서 매 맞은 상처를 닦아주고 먹을 것을 주었습니다.
예수를 믿게 된 간수의 마음은 기쁨으로 가득 찼습니다.
Paul loved Jesus.
Paul wanted to do the job Jesus gave him to do. His job was to tell people about Jesus.
The Holy Spirit inside Paul helped him be brave.
One day Paul and his friend, Silas, were in the city of Philippi to tell people about Jesus.
They walked down the street. A girl began to follow them.
The girl had an evil spirit inside her. The evil spirit did not want Paul and Silas to tell people about Jesus.
Paul looked at the girl. "In the name of Jesus Christ, come out of her," Paul said to the evil spirit. Right away the evil spirit came out of the girl.
But some people were angry. They told the city rulers Paul and Silas broke the law.
Soldiers beat Paul and Silas with sticks. They put Paul and Silas in jail with heavy chains on their feet.
Paul and Silas began to talk to God. They began to sing songs to God.
Suddenly everything began to shake. It was an earthquake.
The doors of the jail came open. The chains on all the people in the jail fell off.
"Wait," Paul said, "Do not run away. Stay in the jail. The jailer will be in trouble if we leave."
Everyone obeyed Paul. Everyone stayed in the jail.
The jailer woke up. He saw the open door on the jail. He thought everyone was gone.
Paul shouted to the jailer, "We are all here!"
The jailer ran into the jail. He saw all the people in the jail.
He fell down in front of Paul and Silas. "What must I do to be saved?" he asked.
"Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved," Paul told the jailer.
The jailer took Paul and Silas to his house. He washed their cuts and bruises. He gave Paul and Silas food to eat.
The jailer was filled with joy because he believed in the Lord Jesus.
