하나님을 믿는 이스라엘 사람들은 매우 성스러운 날을 기념했습니다.
바로 *'속죄일'이라고 불리는 날입니다.
속죄일에 사람들은 오직 하나님에 대해서만 생각했습니다.
즐거운 노래도 들리지 않았어요.
웃거나 장난치지도 않았습니다.
사람들은 하나님을 기쁘게 하지 않았던 일들에 대해 생각했습니다.
그들은 자신의 죄에 대해 생각했어요.
하나님은 사람들이 자신들의 죄를 뉘우치기 바라십니다.
사람들은 하나님을 슬프게 했던 일들에 대해 "제가 잘못했어요" 하고 말했습니다.
속죄일에 사람들은 오직 하나님에 대해서만 생각하며 하루를 보냈습니다.
God's people had a very important holy day.
It was called the Day of Atonement.
On the Day of Atonement, the people thought only about God.
There was no happy singing.
There was no laughing or playing.
The people thought about the things they had done that did not please God.
They thought about their sins.
God wants people to be sorry for their sins.
The people told God "I'm sorry" for the things they had done that made God sad.
On the Day of Atonement, the people spent all day thinking about God.

*속죄일(The Day of Atonement)은 모든 죄를 용서받는다는 의미를 지닌 유대인의 명절이다.
