발람의 나귀

어느 날, 이스라엘 사람들은 모압 땅에 이르렀습니다.
모압 왕의 신하들이 *발람에게 와서 말하길, "왕은 당신이 와서 이스라엘 사람들을 저주해 주길 바라오."
왕을 만나러 가기 전, 발람은 하나님께 물었어요. "당신의 백성들에 대해 내가 뭐라고 해야 할지요?"
하나님이 말씀하셨어요. "나의 백성들을 저주하지 말라. 오직 내가 명한 말만 하라."
발람은 나귀에 안장을 놓아 왕을 만나러 길을 떠났습니다.
그는 왕이 약속한 돈에 대해 생각하기 시작했어요.
갑자기 나귀가 멈춰 섰어요.
길 한가운데 번쩍이는 칼을 든 하나님의 사자가 발람을 공격하려고 서 있었습니다.
발람의 눈에는 하나님의 사자가 보이지 않았어요.
그는 나귀가 고집을 부리는 줄 알고 나귀를 때렸습니다.
나귀가 사람처럼 말했어요. "내가 당신에게 무엇을 했길래 나를 세 번 때리는 것이오?"
그러자 하나님이 발람으로 하여금 하나님의 사자가 보이게 했어요.
하나님의 사자가 말했어요. "네 나귀가 너의 목숨을 구했다."
발람은 하나님의 백성에 대해 선한 말만 했습니다.
언제나 하나님이 주관하십니다.
One day, the Israelites came to the land of Moab.
The messengers said to Balaam, "The king of Moab wants you to come and say a curse against the Israelite people."
Before Balaam went to see the king, Balaam asked God, "What can I say about your people?"
God said, "Balaam, you cannot say bad words about my people.
You must say only what I tell you to say."
Balaam saddled his donkey and started off to meet the king.
He began to think of all the money the king had promised.
Suddenly, the donkey stopped.
There, just ahead, standing in the middle of the road, was the angel of the Lord with a flashing sword ready to attack Balaam.
Balaam could not see the angel.
He only thought his donkey was being stubborn, so he hit the donkey.
The donkey spoke with words just like people use, "What I have done to make you beat me three times?"
Then, suddenly God let Balaam see the angel of the Lord.
The angel spoke to him, "It was your donkey that saved your life."
Balaam said only good words about God's people.
God is always in control.
