기존 개념의 비판적 이해와 사이보그 개념에 대한 새로운 제안
M. Clynes: [···] experience as an uncyborg – what would you call them?
C. H. Gary: A homo sapiens, I guess.
M. Clynes: Homo sapiens, when he put on a pair of glasses, has already changed. When he rides a bicycle he virtually has become a cyborg. Initially, it’s a little hard to learn to ride a bike but once you learn it you do all of these things automatically and the bike becomes almost a part of you. When homo sapiens walks he doesn’t pay much attention to how he walks, it’s natural. In the same way, when he is on his bicycle it feels natural to a person who know how to ride a bike. You can call that, if you want, a simple cyborg right there.¹
I ask the cyborg anthropologist if a system of a person watching a TV might constitute a cyborg. (When I watch TV, I feel like a homeostatic system functioning unconsciously.)²
