-And the meaning of <All we need is inspiration>

팝즐의 <All we need is inspiration>(이하 AWNI)를 처음으로 들었을 때, 나는 <델리아-전생의 약속>을 탈고하고 퇴고 작업을 하던 중이었다. <델리아- 전생의 약속>은 전작인 <와플>과 <브리즈 -전생의 연인>에 이어지는 전생 3부작의 완결편이며 내가 쓴 유일한 대하소설이다.

이 대하소설의 끝맺음에서 내가 이 곡을 만났을 때 내 눈앞에 어떤 이미지 혹은 영상 같은 것이 떠올랐는데, 간단히 말하면 그건 어떤 파티의 한 장면과도 같았다. 이 소설의 모든 등장인물들이 모여 벌이는 노래와 춤의 축제 같은 것. 홀연히 머릿속에 떠오른 이 장면을 머릿속으로 계속 떠올리는 동안 어떤 확신이 점차 머릿속에서 구체적인 형태로 완성되어 갔다. 그것은 이 길고 긴 여정이 결국 말하고자 하는 주제에 대한 구체적인 확신이었다.

하지만 팬데믹이 길어지면서 어쩔 수 없이 이 작품을 오랫동안 방치했었다. 마침내 이 작품을 다시 꺼낼 때가 왔다는 생각이 들었을 때 나는 자연스럽게 <AWNI>를 떠올렸다. 이 작품과 이 곡은 평화를 사랑하고 음악을 통한 화합을 추구했던 누자베스의 정신을 함께 계승한다고 생각한다.   그것이 <AWNI>가 내게 준 확신이었다.

이제 그 확신을, 책의 앞머리에 분명한 문장의 형태로 적어넣는다. 우리가 다 함께 꾸는 꿈이 현실이 되기를 소망하며.

다시 한 번, 동북아의 평화를 기원하며.

 

When I first heard Pabzzz's <All we need is inspiration> (hereinafter referred to as AWNI), I was in the middle of finishing and editing <Delia - Promise of Past Life>. <Delia - Promise of a Past Life> is the final part of the Past Life Trilogy, following the previous works <Waffle> and <Brizz - Lovers of a Past Life>, and is the only epic novel I have written.

When I encountered this song at the end of this saga, an image or scene appeared before my eyes. To put it simply, it was like a scene from a party. It's like a festival of song and dance held by all the characters in this novel. As I continued to recall this scene that suddenly came to mind, a certain conviction gradually took shape in my mind. It was a specific conviction about the topic that this long journey ultimately wanted to address.

However, as the pandemic dragged on, I had no choice but to neglect this work for a long time. When I finally thought it was time to bring out this work again, I naturally thought of <AWNI>. I believe that this work and this song inherit the spirit of Nujabes, which loved peace and pursued harmony through music. That was the confidence that <AWNI> gave me.

Now, write that conviction in the form of a clear sentence at the beginning of the book. I hope that the dream we all dream together becomes a reality.
