어느 날, 예수가 예루살렘에 갔습니다.
예루살렘에는 특별한 못이 있었어요.
그곳은 심하게 아픈 병자들로 붐볐습니다.
그들은 못의 물에 거품이 일어 자신들이 낫기를 바라고 있었어요.
예수가 그 못 옆을 지나다가 걷지 못하는 사람을 보았습니다.
그는 38년을 앓고 있었어요.
예수가 그에게 다가가 물었습니다, "네가 낫기를 원하느냐?"
그가 말했습니다, "아무도 나를 도와 물에 넣어주지 않아요.“
예수가 말했습니다, "일어나라! 네 자리를 들고 걸으라."
그러자 그가 나았습니다. 그는 깔고 누웠던 자리를 주워 들고는 걸어 다녔습니다.
예수가 *안식일에 병자를 고치는 것을 싫어하는 사람들이 있었습니다.
그들이 그 병상에서 일어난 사람에게 말했어요, "당신은 왜 안식일에 자리를 들고 가는 거요? 법에 어긋나는 걸 모르시오?"
그가 말했습니다, "내 병을 고쳐준 분이 자리를 들고 걸으라 하였소."
그들이 화를 내며 말했습니다, "대체 그가 누구란 말이오!" 그러나 그는 예수의 이름을 알지 못했습니다.
그가 하나님께 감사드리기 위해 성전에 갔을 때였습니다.
예수가 그를 보고 말했습니다, "하나님의 말씀을 잘 지키라."
그는 모든 사람들에게 자신의 병을 고쳐준 사람이 예수라고 말했습니다.
One day, Jesus went to Jerusalem.
In Jerusalem, there was a special pool of water.
It was full of people. All these people were very sick.
They hoped the water would bubble up and make them well.
When Jesus walked by the pool, he saw a man who could not walk.
This man had been sick for thirty-eight years.
Jesus went up to this man and asked him, "Do you want to get well?"
The man said, "I have no one to help me into the pool."
Jesus said, "Get up! pick up your mat and walk."
At once, the man was well. He picked up his mat and walked around.
There were men who did not like Jesus healing on the Sabbath.
They said to the man, "Why are you carrying your mat on the *Sabbath? Don't you know it is against our law?"
The man said, "The one who made me well told me to pick up my mat and walk."
The angry men said, "Who was this person!" But the man did not know Jesus' name.
The man went to the temple to say thank you to God.
Jesus found the man and said to him, "Be careful to do what God says."
The man told everyone that Jesus was the one who made him well.
<요한복음 5:1-18>
* 안식일(Sabbath)은 하나님을 예배하고 휴식을 취하는 특별한 날이다.
유대교에서는 이 날 모든 일을 멈추고 쉰다.
