막내 동생
우리 집에는 막내 동생이 있습니다.
갈색 꼬불꼬불한 털을 가졌고,
가슴 근육이 단단히 발달해 있습니다.
엉덩이와 허벅지에는 마치 말처럼
튼튼한 근육이 잡혀있습니다.
엄마와 함께 산을 하루에 3~4시간씩 등반하기 때문입니다.
이름은 모아입니다.
모아의 다리는 가늘고 길쭉합니다.
그래서인지 모아가 길을 걸을 때면,
많은 사람들이 발걸음을 멈추고 말합니다.
"우와, 다리 진짜 길다."
걷는 모습도 특별합니다.
보통은 앞다리와 뒷다리가 엇갈려 움직이는데,
모아는 왼쪽 앞다리와 왼쪽 뒷다리,
오른쪽 앞다리와 오른쪽 뒷다리가
동시에 움직입니다.
마치 기차가 레일을 따라 리듬감 있게
움직이는 모습 같답니다.
그래서인지 조금 엉뚱하고 어색한데,
그 모습이 정말 귀엽습니다.
많은 사람들이 웃으며 말합니다.
"뭐야, 저 강아지 걷는 폼이 너무 귀엽잖아!"
모아를 보고 있으면 배울 점이 참 많습니다.
모아에게 배우는 점은, 바로 '사랑스러움'입니다.
모아는 사람을 참 좋아합니다.
낯가림 없이 친근하게 다가갈 줄 알고,
따뜻한 성격 덕분에 많은 사람들의 사랑을 받습니다.
어제도 소개드렸지만,
기차처럼 엉뚱하게 걷는 걸음걸이나
왼쪽, 오른쪽으로 살랑살랑 흔드는 꼬리는
지나가는 사람들의 시선을 단번에 사로잡습니다.
처음 보는 사람에게도 마치 오래 알던 사람처럼
스스럼없이 다가가 꼭 달라붙습니다.
최근 가족 여행을 갔을 때의 일입니다.
함께한 다른 가족 중 한 분이 강아지를 싫어하신다고 하셨습니다.
그런데 그분도 모아의 애교와 붙임성에
금세 마음이 녹아버렸습니다.
결국엔 "모아 같은 강아지라면 키워보고 싶다"는 말씀까지 하셨습니다.
모두들 깜짝 놀랐던 순간이었습니다.
그리고 또 하나, 모아에게서 배우는 건 '꾸준한 태도'입니다.
말을 할 수 없는 모아는
강렬한 눈빛이나 특유의 애교 섞인 소리로
자신의 의사를 또렷하게 표현합니다.
가족들이 고기를 구워 먹을 때면
쪼르르 달려와 식탁 옆에 자리 잡고
정자세로 조용히 앉아 오래도록 기다립니다.
고기를 쉽게 얻지 못하면,
처음엔 초롱초롱한 눈빛으로 바라보다가
슬며시 소리를 내기 시작합니다.
"끄응... 끄응..."
애틋하고 간절한 소리에
결국 가족들은 웃으며 고기를 후후 불어 건네줍니다.
막내 동생 모아에게는 배울 점이 참 많습니다.
사람을 가리지 않고 따뜻하게 대하고,
자신이 원하는 것이 있으면 꾸준히 노력하는 모습.
모아를 보면 ‘사랑스러움’이란 결국
누군가를 향한 따뜻한 시선과 진심의 꾸준함이란 걸 알게 됩니다.
누구보다, 당신 스스로가 당신에게 사랑스러운 존재였으면 좋겠습니다.

His hips and thighs are strong, almost like a horse’s,
because she goes hiking with my mom
for three to four hours a day.
Moa’s legs are slm and long.
His name is Moa.
So whenever he walks down the street,
people often stop and say,
“Wow, his legs are so long!”
The way he walks is also quite special.
Normally, dogs move their front and back legs in an alternating pattern.
But Moa moves his left front and left back leg together,
and his right front and right back leg together,
at the same time.
It looks just like a train gliding rhythmically along the tracks.
Because of that, he sometimes seems a bit quirky or awkward,
but that only makes his even cuter.
Many people smile and say,
“Oh my gosh, the way that dog walks is just adorable!”
Watching Moa teaches me a lot.
One of the biggest things I learn from Moa is her lovable nature.
Moa truly loves people.
he approaches everyone with warmth and friendliness, without a hint of shyness.
Thanks to his sweet personality, he’s loved by many.
His quirky, train-like walk and the way he sways her tail left and right
instantly catch the eys of passersby.
Even with people he meets for the first time,
he acts like they’re old friends—
snuggling up without hesitation.
There was a moment during a recent family trip
when someone from another family said they didn’t like dogs.
But after spending a bit of time with Moa—
seeing his charm and affection—
they completely melted.
In the end, they even said,
“If I had a dog like Moa, I’d love to have one.”
It was a surprising and touching moment for all of us.
Another thing I’ve learned from Moa is persistence.
Though he can’t speak,
he clearly communicates with intense eye contact
and his signature little whimpers.
Whenever we grill meat at home,
he trots over and sits beside the table,
waiting patiently in perfect posture.
If no one gives him a piece right away,
he starts by gazing up with sparkling eyes,
and then slowly lets out the softest little sounds.
“Eung... eung...”
His heartfelt, pleading voice always gets to us—
and we end up blowing on a piece of meat and handing it over with a smile.
Moa welcomes everyone with warmth,
and when he wants something,
he focuses with gentle determination until she gets it.
There’s so much to learn from my youngest sibling, Moa—
the way she treats everyone with warmth,
and how she never gives up on what she wants.
Watching Moa, I’ve come to realize that loveliness
is born from a gentle gaze and the sincerity that endures.
More than anyone else, I hope you can be a lovely presence to yourself.
