Because, I keep on talking about this. It's worth repeating, important to remember towards the end of your life when you have illness, that's when you're in big trouble. That means that they're coming, your karmic retribution is coming to pull you down to the evil paths. It's a lot easier to fall than you think. All it takes, this lady is in trouble right now. All it takes is, for you- it's so easy to fall into the animal realm. Because all it takes is the thought of stupidity.

For example, I don't know what kind of stupid thoughts you might have. But I noticed I have certain types of stupid thoughts. It's kind of weird. It’s like you take things for granted. In order to fall into the hungry ghost, all you need to have is a thought of greed before you pass away. So for example, I often have thoughts of greed for flavors. Anyone have that problem? Good flavors on the weekend. No? I admit to you. On the weekend, I look forward to lunch time. To the point the food is so good on the weekend, I go to restaurants, I say, How can I make a living eating, selling food like this?

And in our lineage, he set an example. You can give it back to him, please. Thank you. You know, he had built, had made quite a reputation for himself at his temple, at his mountain. Many people came to his mountain to ask him questions. And so his reputation spread far and wide. And one day Baixiu裵休, the prime minister Baixiu heard of him. Baixiu. what is Baixiu裵休? I need to give the Chinese characters of that before I can know the Vietnamese. Baixiu is a great supporter of Mahayana. So when he heard of Ling You, Chan Master Ling You. And so he personally came to talk to him. And so he came and found an old man sitting there. You know, in a hut. And so he asked. And after he talked to Ling You Chan Master. He left and he was very impressed. And Baixiu is very well informed, is very well read. And his teacher is Huangbo(黄檗), the same generation as LingYou. Okay.

And their common teacher is Baizhang百丈. And Baizhang has two major, major disciples. Baizhang is the disciple of Mazu. And below him, he trained two big great disciples. So, Baizhang trained Huangbo and Weishan. And it turns out Baizhang send Weishan to Wei Mountain to spread the Dharma. Whereas Huangbo is still around. So Baixiu裵休 was the disciple of Huangbo. So, he's very well, well, well, well, well, well read.

You bring it in a suitcase, two hundred pieces, uh, silver pieces. Very, very heavy. So he left two hundred silver pieces. So, three years later he came back for a visit. And he discovered.. no temple.

So he immediately came to WeiShan and asked “what happened to the money? I left you two hundred silver pieces for you to build a temple”. So he said, for two hundred silver pieces, that's enough to build a temple to house a hundred people. Uh, so “what happened? You spend it on wine and drugs?” And so WeiShan, Master says. “Really? Did you leave me two hundred silver pieces? Where did you leave them?” So he told the prime minister to go look at the place where he left the two hundred silver pieces. So the prime minister went there. And sure enough, they found the two hundred silver pieces with a lot more vegetation, more grass around it. You see? So, even the Chan master in his own mountain, when the money doesn't belong to him, he doesn't touch it. I would have, you know, bought a Ferrari with that.

"정말요? 200개의 은화를 남겼다고요? 어디에 두셨나요?" 그래서 위산선사는 재상에게 그 200개의 은조각이 있던 곳을 가서 찾아보라고 했습니다. 재상은 그곳에 가서, 정말로 그 200개의 은조각을 발견했습니다. 그곳에는 많은 수풀이 자라고 있었습니다. 보셨나요? 그래서, 선사님은 자신의 산인데도 자신이 소유한 것이 아닌 돈이라면, 그 돈을 건드리지 않았습니다. 나 같으면 그 돈으로, 음, 페라리를 샀을지도 모릅니다.

Personally, I would say, this is the will of heaven. It's for me to finally get my red Ferrari. This Chan master. Let alone for us, his descendants to go around telling people that we need money to build temples. We need money to buy statues. We don't do that. Not in our lineage. It's for the other lineages. They need to build temples. We don't. So it turns out that Baixiu now is so impressed he decided to build a temple for him.

개인적으로 나 같으면 이렇게 말했을 것 같습니다. "이건 하늘의 뜻이에요. 드디어 빨간 페라리를 갖게 된 거죠." 이 선사님은, 우리가 말할 필요도 없습니다. 그의 제자들이 사찰을 짓기 위해 돈이 필요하다고 사람들에게 말하면서 돌아다닌다거나, 불상을 사기 위해 돈이 필요하다고 하지 않습니다. 우리는 그렇게 하지 않습니다. 우리 법맥에서는 그렇지 않습니다. 그건 다른 문중들의 일입니다. 그들이 사찰을 지어야 하지만, 우리는 아닙니다. 그래서 결국, 배휴는 그를 보고 감동을 받아서 사찰을 짓기로 결심했습니다.

So, the Prime Minister personally built a temple for a thousand people for this Chan Master. So, I'm trying to remind my disciples that in our lineage, we used to being poor. So it's okay. That's the way our teachers wanted us to be so that we can do meditation or do practice. Be careful. Don't talk about money. Don't… if you see money coming, run. Alright? Because if you know, if too much money is not a good thing. Alright?

그래서 재상은 직접 이 선사님을 위해서 천 명이 살 수 있는 사찰을 지었습니다. 그래서 나는 제자들에게 상기시키고 싶습니다. 우리 법맥에서는 가난하게 사는 것에 익숙하다는 겁니다. 그래서 괜찮습니다. 그것이 우리 스승님들이 우리에게 원하셨던 방식이니까요. 그래야 우리가 명상하고 수행할 수 있는 겁니다. 조심하십시오. 돈에 대해서 이야기하지 마십시오. 돈이 오면 도망가세요. 알았나요? 너무 돈이 많은 건 좋은 일이 아닙니다. 알았죠?

Anyone else would like to say anything to Master XianChi? before he leaves? Oh, yes, yes, yes. One person. Mistress. Someone offered to buy some drinks so that they can say goodbye to Master XianChi tonight. What's the matter with today at lunch? They prefer the evening. But there's fewer people. It's Sunday night. People are home trying to get ready for work tomorrow. Right? Unlike us, we are all unemployed. You know? You have to be sensitive about that. So it has to be tonight?

현지노스님에게 떠나기 전에 사람들에게 뭐든 말씀하시겠어요? 아, 네, 네, 네. 한 사람이요. 누군가가 노스님에게 작별 인사를 하려고 음료를 사겠다고 합니다. 오늘 점심은 뭐가 문제였죠? 저녁이 더 좋다고 하네요. 하지만 사람들이 적어요. 일요일 밤이라 다들 집에서 내일 출근 준비를 하고 있습니다. 그렇죠? 우리들처럼 모두 직장 없는 사람들이 아닌 이상요. 이런 점에 대해서는 우리가 신경써야 합니다. 그래서 오늘 밤이야 하는 거죠?

If each one of my disciples offered me a red Ferrari, I could sell it at a very good price. Then I'd be able to afford plenty of statues and temples. She didn't understand at all. Anyway.
