각국 정부가 스폰서가 되는 국제학생을 위한 성적 우수 장학금
필자는 그동안 성적 우수장학금이 아닌 Need Based Grant, 즉 학생의 가정 경제 상황에 따라 주는 재정보조금에 대해 많은 소개를 했다. 그러나 국제학생의 경우 가정의 연봉이 16만달러를 넘거나 미국 시민권자 학생의 경우 가정의 연봉이 18만달러가 넘으면 지급 되지 않는댜는 한계가 있다. 그래서 그런 한계가 없는, 성적 우수 장학금에 대해 관심을 가진 학생들이 적지 않다. 오늘은 이 성적 우수 장학금에 대해 알아본다.
다음은 각국 정부가 조성한 기금에서 제공하는 성적 우수 장학금 리스트다.
가장 대표적인 것이 미국 정부가 주는 플브라이트 장학금이다. 이 장학금으로 미국 대학에 유학을 간 한국 학생들이 많다. 단 석사 혹은 박사과정 학생에게만 제공된다. 학부생은 해당되지 않는다.
영국 정부가 주는 장학금도 석사과정 학생에게만 해당되고 1년간 준다. 스위스 정부 장학금은 박사과정 학생에게만 제공된다. 더 자세한 것은 아래 자료를 참조하면 된다.

Fulbright Foreign Student Program (USA)
The Fulbright Foreign Student Program are prestigious scholarships for international students who wants to pursue a Master’s or PhD degree in the United States. Generally, the grant funds tuition, airfare, a living stipend, and health insurance, etc. The Fulbright program provides funding for the duration of the study.
British Chevening Scholarships (UK)
Chevening Scholarships, the UK government’s global scholarship programme, are awarded to outstanding scholars with leadership potential. Awards are typically for a one-year Master’s degree. Most Chevening Scholarships cover: tuition fees; a living allowance at a set rate (for one individual); an economy class return airfare to the UK; additional grants to cover essential expenditure.
Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships (Switzerland)
The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships provide graduates from all fields with the opportunity to pursue doctoral or postdoctoral research at one of the public funded university or recognized institution in Switzerland. The scholarship covers a monthly allowance, tuition fees, health insurance, lodging allowance, etc.
Swedish Scholarships for International Students (Sweden)
The Swedish Institute provides scholarships in Sweden to highly-qualified international students from developing countries who wants to pursue full-time Masters studies at Swedish Universities. The scholarship covers tuition fee, living expenses, some travel grant, and insurance.
VLIR-UOS Training and Masters Scholarships (Belgium)
VLIR-UOS awards scholarships to students from selected developing countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America so that they can pursue a Training and Master’s Programme related to development at Universities in Belgium. The scholarships cover tuition fee, accommodation, allowance, travel costs, and other program related costs.
