아는 단어 제대로 사용하기 9- 돈 

1. 지폐나 동전 등을 의미하는 실물 또는 가상의 돈

money 

I spent far too much money on gifts for my girl friend, so I need to save money this month to pay rent.

여자 친구 선물에 너무 돈을 너무 많이 썼어, 렌트비 내려면 이번 달엔 돈 좀 모아야 해.

cash : note-영, bill-미 (지폐), coin (동전) 형태의 현금

I'll pay you $50 in cash and a check (cheque-영).

50달러는 현금으로 내고 나머지는 수표로 할게요. 

Do you have a 5 dollar bill? ( a 5 pound note?)

5달러 지폐 있니? (5파운드 지폐 있니?)

currency : 통화

 You should prepare some cash in local currency before you go overseas.

외국에 가기 전에 현지 통화로 현금을 준비해야 한다. 

Bitcoin is a new currency that was created in 2009.

 비트코인은 2009년에 만들어진 새로운 통화이다. 

change : 잔돈, 거스름돈

Do you have change for a $5  bill?

5달러 지폐 바꿔줄 잔돈 있니?

Keep the change.

거스름돈은 안 주셔도 괜찮아요.

2. 다양한 형태의 돈

pesion : 연금

My dad lives on a retirement pension.

나의 아버지는 퇴직연금으로 생활하신다.  

benefit : 정부가 주는 보조금, 수당

You cannot receive unemployment benefit unless you are looking for a job.

구직활동을 하지 않으면 실업 수당을 받을 수 없습니다. 

Social Security (welfare)- 미 : 사회보장 연금

Many people in this neighborhood are on welfare.

이 지역에 많은 사람들은 사회보장 연금으로 살아간다.

grant : 정부나 단체에서 주는 보조금

Not many students are funded by a federal grant.

많지 않은 학생들이 정부의 학비 보조금을 받는다.

a research grant : 연구 보조금

scholarship : 학교나 단체에서 주는 장학금 

She is attending collage on a full scholarship. 

그녀는 전액 장학금을 받고 대학에 입학한다. 

He won(received) a football scholarship to his collage.

그는 대학에서 축구 장학금을 받았다. 

bribe : 뇌물 

He admitted that he had accepted(taken) bribes.

그는 뇌물을 받았다고 인정했다. 

tax : 세금

Do you realize how much income tax we paid last year?

작년에 우리가 소득세를 얼마나 냈는지 인지하고 있었어? 

This project is a waste of taxpayers' money.

이 프로젝트는 세금 낭비이다. 

interest : 이자

Higher interest rates could badly impact your life. 

금리 인상은 우리의 일상생활에 큰 피해를 입힐 수 있다.

The interest on her loan is 5%. 

그녀의 대출 금리는 5%이다.
