공놀이
일상에세이
'틱', '퍽', '땅', '팡', '통', '빡', '쾅', '빵'... 귀에 익은 거센소리들이다.
바야흐로 공놀이의 계절이다.
손으로 튕기면서 던지는 농구 시즌은 끝났고, 손으로 때리는 배구 시즌은 가고 있고, 손으로 던지고 방망이로 때리고 글러브로 받아내는 야구 시즌은 발로 차는 축구 시즌과 함께 되돌아왔다. 날이 따뜻해지니 쇠로 맞히는 골프도 시즌을 시작하고 있다.
공 하나하나가 사람들을 집안에서 바깥으로 유혹한다.
공놀이는 보는 것도 즐기고, 직접 몸으로 하는 것도 좋아한다. 공을 손에 쥐면 그게 무엇이든 남부럽지 않게 하는 편이다. 게다가 승부를 내자고 덤비면 눈빛이 반짝반짝하고 집중력은 급상승.
당구장에서 내가 친 공이 벽을 맞고 돌고 돌아 기다리고 있는 다른 공을 '틱'하고 건드려 줄 때, 테니스장에서 내가 정성껏 휘두른 스매싱에 공이 상대방 코트 구석에 '팡'하고 떨어질 때, 그 느낌 참 좋다. 그중에서 소리로는 뭐니 뭐니 해도 볼링장에서 스트레이트로 힘껏 던진 9파운드 볼링공이 저 멀리 있는 핀들을 '빵'하고 쓰러트릴 때, 그때 그 소리가 기가 막힌다. 예전엔 친구들이 핀 좀 그만 부수라고 살살 좀 하라고 했는데 며칠 전에 던져보니 예전만 못하긴 하더라. 그럼에도 불구하고 여전히 재미있었다.
오늘도 둥근 공 하나가 여러 집의 희로애락을 관장한다.
응원은 하되, 게임 하나의 이기고 지는 것에 일희일비하지 말자고 지킬 수 없는 다짐을 해 본다.

I enjoy watching ball games, and I also enjoy playing them myself. When I hold a ball in my hand, I am better at anything than others. In addition, when I have to decide a game, my eyes light up and my concentration suddenly increases.
I really like the feeling when the ball I hit hits the wall at the billiards hall and rolls around and touches another ball, and when the ball lands in the corner of the opponent's court after a smash I swing with all my heart at the tennis court.
The most exciting moment of all is when I throw a bowling ball straight with all my might at the bowling alley and knock down the pins far away. The sound is truly amazing. My friends used to tell me to stop breaking the pins and be gentle. But when I threw it a few days ago, it wasn't as strong as before. Nevertheless, it was still fun.
Even today, a round ball is controlling the joy, anger, sorrow and pleasure of many families.
I cheer them on, but I make an unkeepable promise to myself not to get too excited or sad about winning or losing a game.
「ティック」、「パン」、「タン」、「パン」、 「トン」、「パッ」、「バン」、「パン」··· 聞き慣れた激音だ。
今や ボール遊びの季節だ。
手投げ バスケットボール の シーズン は終わり、手打ち バレーボール の シーズン は終わりかけており、手投げで バット で殴り、グローブ で受ける野球の シーズン は、足で蹴る サッカー の シーズン とともに戻ってきた。暖かくなるにつれ、鉄の棒で当てる ゴルフ も シーズン を始めている。
ボール一つ一つが家の中にいた人々を外に誘う。
ボール遊びは見るのも楽しみ、自分で プレー するのも好きだ。 ボール を手に握れば、それが何でも人より上手な方だ。 その上、勝負をしなければならない時には目が輝き、集中力は急に上がる。
ビリヤード場で私が打った ボール が壁に当たって回って他の ボール に触れてくれる時、テニス場で私が丁寧に振り回した スマッシング に ボール が相手の コート の隅に落ちる時、その感じが本当に好きだ。
その中で一番楽しいのは ボウリング場で力いっぱい ストレート で投げた ボウリングボール が遠くにある ピン を倒す時だ。 その瞬間、その音が本当に素晴らしい。 むかしは友達が ピン をもう壊すなと優しくしろと言っていた。 しかし、数日前に投げてみたら、以前ほど強くなかった。 それにもかかわらず、依然として面白かった。
今日も丸い ボール一つが多くの家の喜怒哀楽を コントロール している。
応援はするが、一つの ゲーム で勝ち負けすることに一喜一憂しないという守れない誓いを自分に言い聞かせる。
