할까 말까

가장 경계해야 할 생각

머뭇거릴 때가 가장 위험하다는 생각이 든다. 이럴 때 가장 많은 시간을 잡아먹기도 하고 소모적인 적이 많았기 때문에 드는 생각일 수 있다.


사람들은 자신의 선택에 자신이 없다. 내가 잘못된 선택을 해서 시간이나 돈이나 그 무엇보다도 중요한 것들을 잃을까 봐 겁먹는다. 그럼 우리가 많은 경험을 한 다음인 50년 후의 삶에는 망설임이 없을까? 불안한 중년 어른들은 더 많아 보인다.


나의 선택에 자신이 있으려면 나를 알고 나를 믿어야 한다. 실패해도 별거 아니라는 마음가짐 역시 필요하다. 자기 선택에 자신이 있다는 얘기는 반드시 성공하는 것만 골라서 한다는 뜻이 아니다. 나를 믿고 실수한 나도 괜찮다고 토닥이고 바로 다음 스텝으로 넘어갈 회복탄력성이 크다는 얘기다.

You can refer to a group of people or things as a flock of them to emphasize that there are a lot of them. ex) his flock of advisers

If people flock to a particular place or event, a very large number of them go there, usually because it is pleasant or interesting. ex) The public have flocked to the show
