통합? 합동? 아니오. 예수님 믿습니다.

교인이 많다거나 교회가 크다거나 하는 것에 현혹되지 않습니다. 큰 교단, 큰 교회 소속이라는 게 이렇게 부끄러웠던 때가.. 크다고 다 문제는 아니겠지만, 우리가 진정 주님을 믿는지 아니면 하여튼 크고 힘 있는 것을 믿는지 가끔 돌아보아야 할 것 같습니다. 단지 '이렇게 많이들 믿는데..'가 혹 우리 믿음의 근거라면, 소수일 수밖에 없었던 초대교회 성도들은, 그것도 그렇게 큰 핍박 가운데 과연 어떻게 믿음을 가질 수 있었을까요? 크고 많은 것에 풍성함의 은혜가 있기도 하겠지만, 오직 예수님 한 분!

Don't ever be tempted by the size of a church. I had never been more ashamed than I am these days as a member of a big church of a big denomination. Now and then we should make sure whether we keep the faith in the Lord or in the size of the church. If you believed only because there were so many who had already believed, how could the first believers ever come to believe when Christians were so few and even persecuted? Though we frequently enjoy the grace of plenty, we should pursue nothing or no one else but Jesus, the one and only One!
