한식의 세계화
신메뉴 개발
집에서 밥을 해먹은 지 2년쯤, 코로나 덕에 요리실력이 일취월장했다. 그간의 혼밥 수련 기간이 이곳에 와서 도움이 될 줄이야.
그동안 된장찌개와 떡볶이, 삼겹살을 대접했는데, 오늘은 ‘냉장고를 부탁해’처럼 남은 밥과 고기, 채소를 처리하기 위해 새로운 메뉴 개발에 착수했다. 메뉴는 미역국과 김치찌개.

독일 식재료로도 맛을 낼 수 있을 것이라 장담하지 못했기에 옆집 사는 친구들 상대로 실험을 했다. 이탈리안은 미역국에 밥 두 공기를 말아먹었고, 김치찌개 반응도 정말 좋았다.

그동안 초대를 받고, 초대에 매번 응했는데, 이들에게 식사 대접을 거의 못했다. 그래서 더 많은 친구에게 음식 대접을 해볼까 싶다. 다음 메뉴는 칼국수, 김치전/감자전/파전 등이 떠오른다.

또, 이곳에 오고 보니 Veggie가 정말 많다. 대부분은 환경을 위해 이를 실천한다. 그 친구들에게 매번 된장찌개나 떡볶이만 먹으라고 할 수 없는 노릇인데, 고민이다.

이처럼 한식의 세계화를 실천하고 있다. 우스갯소리로 친구들에게 공부 그만두고 한식당을 열어볼까 했는데, 나는 몰라도 누구든지 오기만 하면, 독점이기에 수익성이 있을 듯하다. 대부분 외국인이 한식을 잘 먹더라.

The Globalization of Korean Food

Due to the coronavirus, I was able to train myself in cooking. I never realized that training will be helpful for me to cook Korean food here in Straubing.

Since I moved in, I have served people a few times with doenja g jigae (soybean stew), tteokbokki, samgyeopsal (Pork Belly), and various kinds of kimchi. Today, I tried a new menu to treat leftover rice, meat, and vegetable: Seaweed soup and kimchi stew.

I couldn’t guarantee that it taste good with German ingredients, so I did an experiment with friends living next door. The Italian ate two bowls of rice in seaweed soup, and the kimchi stew was also good.

Lucky to meet good friends, I got invitations to parties, and I almost say yes, but in many cases, I was not able to treat them to Korean food. The fact that I have only two ranges in the studio and it is very small, I couldn't invite all of them, so I feel sorry for that. So, I decided to cook food for many more friends. As for the next menu, chicken/clams kalguksu, kimchi/potato/seafood pancake comes to my mind.

Also, there are many Veggies. Most of them are doing for the environment, which is great. I can't tell those friends to eat only soybean stew or tteokbokki all the time, but I'm not sure which one would be good.

Overall, the globalization of Korean food is being practiced in rural Germany. I said I am considering rather opening a Korean restaurant, quitting my degree, here to my friends as a joke, but seriously if anyone good at cooking might be able to make a fortune here. Most foreigners enjoy Korean food indeed.
