Performances from Psy, (g)-idle and more
Internship report by Jake
May is the month when students just had their mid-terms that was filled with stress. Therefore, universities will hold a festival also known as DeaDongJae (대동제) that is filled with lots of activities and 'pubs' and much more just to relieve everybody's stress or just to give the time to let students enjoy themselves just before their finals at the end of June. On stage, a variety of students will show off their talents and different universities will have some sort of artists lined up for the duration of their festival, which usually lasts 3 days. You can watch the performances for free usually further away from the stage. However, if you want to get closer to the stage you have to be a student from that university.

By the time of posting this, the following universities have had their festivals already but for future reference, you can sense what artists the universities will invite.
Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Global Campus had their festival from 17 May till 19 May with BOL 4 performing on 18 May and Boramiyu and Psy performing on 19 May.
Pusan National University held its festival from 17 May till 19 May with Gummy performing on 18 May and Winner performing on 19 May
Pukyong National University in Busan had artists perform on 17 May and 18 May with Monday Kidz and Hyuna performing on 17 May. On 18 May Heize and Punch were performing.
One of the bigger festivals that are held annually is by Yonsei university also called Akaraka. Yonsei has invited big-name artists in the past such as, Twice, IU, and BLACKPINK. In a recent survey, students were voting for which artists they would love to come to see perform. In random order, the most voted artists were, IU, BTS, Aespa, NCT, and BLACKPINK. Due to the late liftings of covid restrictions, it was announced that Yonsei will not be having its festival in May but rather in September due to the preparations that are needed.
Unfortunately, not every single university in Korea that is holding a spring festival can be covered. However, make sure to see what university might be in your neighborhood around May where most of the festivals will be held. A useful tip is to make use of Instagram and to keep your out on the page of the university and use the hashtag #대동제 to see what artists might be performing at a university. Yanatrip will make sure to regularly update the list and can provide charter cars to bring around Seoul universities for you to enjoy without hassles.
Disclaimer: Yanatrip cannot provide any seatings for all of the university festivals.
