출애굽기 14장 13절
Beyond Fear, Into Faith
"두려워하지 마라. 가만히 서서 오늘 여호와께서 너희를 구원하시는 것을 보아라."
이집트의 군대가 사정없이 이스라엘 백성을 뒤쫓아오는 절체절명의 순간, 모세는 담담히 선언합니다. 그의 말은 피난처를 제시하는 것도, 안전한 도피로를 안내하는 것도 아니었습니다. 그는 단호히 하나님의 구원을 선포했습니다.
한때는 하나님의 부름을 두려워하며 지도자가 되기를 완강히 사양하던 모세가, 이제는 도망자의 신분을 벗어던지고 자신의 소명을 온전히 받아들인 것입니다. 끊임없이 자신의 존재를 드러내시며 다가오신 하나님에 대한 신뢰가, 그 위기의 순간에 믿음의 선언으로 터져 나온 것입니다.
모세의 이러한 변화는 놀라움 그 자체입니다. 인간의 두려움과 절망이 휘몰아치는 위기 속에서도, 하나님을 바라볼 때만이 가능했던 변혁이자 기적이었습니다.
모세를 처음부터 지도자로 부르시기로 작정하신 하나님의 계획, 그리고 그 계획을 이루시고야 마는 하나님의 열심 앞에서, 모세는 결국 그분의 신성한 뜻에 자발적으로 동참하게 됩니다.
저 또한 저의 문제 속에서 길을 잃고 스스로를 불쌍히 여기지 않기를 바랍니다. 늘 저와 동행하시는 하나님을 바라보며, 그분의 열심과 신뢰를 믿습니다. 두려움을 거두겠습니다. 이 세상을 다스리시는 이는 여호와 하나님이시기 때문입니다.
"Do not be afraid. Stand still and see how God saves you today."
The Israelites stood at the edge of disaster. Behind them, the Egyptian army pressed forward, relentless and unstoppable. Fear must have gripped their hearts, yet in that critical moment, Moses did not offer them an escape plan or a place to hide. Instead, he told them to stand still.
It is striking to see how much Moses had changed. He was once hesitant, unwilling to step into the role God had given him. Fear held him back, and he pleaded for someone else to take his place. But over time, through every encounter with God, that fear gave way to faith. Now, in the face of overwhelming danger, he did not run. He stood still.
Such trust does not appear out of nowhere. It grows in those who keep their eyes on God, even when everything around them feels uncertain. From the beginning, God had chosen Moses for this purpose, and no hesitation or doubt could change that. Eventually, Moses not only followed but fully stepped into the calling set before him.
In my own moments of fear or uncertainty, I hope to do the same. Rather than feeling lost or weighed down by worry, I want to remember God who walks with me. God is here, always faithful, always leading. So I will choose to trust, to let go of fear, and to rest in the hands of the One who holds all things together.
