그대로 있어줘서 정말 다행이야

Every friday, my sister goes to an orchestra after school. She is always hungry so my Dad buys BLT sandwiches for her every friday. In case you do not know, BLT stands for Bacon, Lettace and Tomato. Funnily enough, those are my initials.

매주 금요일 언니는 방과 후에 오케스트라에 간다. 항상 배가 고프기 때문에 아빠가 BLT샌드위치를 금요일마다 사준다. 혹시 몰라서 말인데 BLT는 베이컨, 상추, 토마토의 영어 약자이다. 웃기게도 내 이름 이니셜이기도 하다.

On friday, when my dad and sister were back from the orchestra, I asked my dad if I could have a ziplock bag to put my school books in. He said yes but told me that my sister's BLT sandwich had been in there. I rejected it and when he saw me grimace, he quickly said that he would wash it and sanitise it. I didn't like the idea and I still didn't want it but he reassured me that everything was clean.  I was in my room when suddenly, my dad asked if I wanted to go to the cheese farm again. I was so excited but at the same time, I was worried. I didn't know if the pigs would still be there. I went downstairs and asked if the pigs on the farm were for eating. My mum said that that was probably not going to happen but my dad said that they might.He said the pigs were treated well and would have lived a happy life. Still, dread washed over me but I knew I wouldn't know until the visit the next day.

어느 금요일에 아빠와 언니가 오케스트라를 마치고 집에 왔을 때 아빠에게 학교 노트를 넣게 지퍼락 가방을 줄 수 있는지 물어보았다. 아빠는 줄 수는 있지만 언니 BLT샌드위치를 넣었었다고 했다. 나는 싫다고 했고, 얼굴을 찡그리고 있는 것을 보시더니 바로 깨끗하게 씻고 소독해서 주겠다고 하셨다. 나는 그러고 싶지 않았고 갖고 싶지 않았는데 아빠가 모두 깨끗하다고 다시 확인시켜 주었다. 내 방에 있는데 갑자기 아빠가 내일 아침에 치즈농장에 가고 싶은지 물어보았다. 신이 났지만 한편으론 걱정이 되었다. 돼지들이 거기에 그대로 있을지 걱정이 되었다. 아래층에 내려가 거기 돼지들을 식용으로 키우는 것인지 물어보았다. 엄마는 아마도 아닐 거라고 말해주었지만, 아빠는 그럴 수 있다고 했다. 그 돼지들은 대신 좋은 환경에서 행복하게 살다 갈 것이라고 말했다. 그래도 두려움이 온몸에 엄습했지만 내일 아침에 가보기 전까지는 모를 일이었다.

The next day, I went to the cheese farm again. This was my third visit. As we approached the farm, I was nervous but I could see the pigs. But, only the black dotted pigs and not the pink pig. I still had hope because there were pig huts so the pig might have been in there. As soon as my dad parked the car, I went outside but my dad said to come and buy the cheese first. We walked into the shop and saw a couple of people buying cheese. I was dying to go out there and wanted to find the pink pig so I asked my mum and she came out with me. I ran towards the pigs and saw a figure of a pink pig in the distance slowly walking out of the hut. I smiled and showed my mum. In the end, I took lots of photos and went home feeling relieved and elated.

다음날 치즈농장을 다시 찾았다. 이번이 세 번째이다. 농장에  가까워질수록 긴장이 되었지만 돼지들이 보였다. 하지만 검은색 패치가 있는 돼지들은 보였는데 분홍돼지 한 마리가 보이지 않았다. 그래도 돼지 움막이 있어서 혹시 그 안에 있을지 몰라 희망을 포기하지 않았다. 아빠가 차를 주차하자마자 밖으로 나왔는데 다 같이 안에 들어가서 치즈 먼저 사자고 했다. 우리는 치즈샵으로 들어갔고 두세 명 정도가 치즈를 사고 있는 것이 보였다. 여기서 가능한 한 빨리 나가서 분홍돼지를 찾고 싶어서 엄마에게 같이 나가자고 말했고 그렇게 해주셨다. 돼지 있는 곳으로 뛰어갔고 멀리 움막에서 천천히 걸어 나오고 있는 분홍돼지의 모습이 보였다. 나는 웃으며 엄마에게 보여주었다. 결국 엄청 많은 사진을 찍고 안심하며 행복한 맘으로 집에 왔다.
