It was one afternoon when I was studying in my room before dinner. As dinner time got closer and closer, I could smell the sizzling smell of meat. I knew our family was having steak but still didn't like the idea of having a dead animal in the house. For dinner, I was going to have vegan sausages with potatoes and other vegetables. I was starving and as soon as my mum shouted to come have dinner, I rushed downstairs, despite the strong smell of fried meat. I saw my plate filled up with potatoes and vegan sausages. I was reading to take a bite when my dad told me to get 3 spoons from the kitchen for the sauces like cranberry sauce. I did what I was told to do but as soon as I went into the kitchen, the smell of meat was overwhelming. I rushed to get the spoons and rushed back into the living room. When we started eating, I didn't want to see the meat or smell it. I could see how much my family enjoyed it, especially my sister. I don't mind if the rest of my family are vegetarians but I would prefer that they were. My mum tries really hard and is very supportive so I am very greatful to her.
저녁 식사 전에 내 방에서 공부하고 있던 어느 날 오후의 일이다. 저녁 시간이 가까워질수록 고기 굽는 냄새가 났다. 나는 가족들이 스테이크를 먹을 거라는 것을 알고는 있었지만 집안에서 죽은 동물을 먹는다는 생각 자체가 싫었다. 나는 저녁으로 비건 소시지, 감자와 다른 야채들을 먹을 것이다. 배가 너무 고팠다. 엄마가 저녁 먹으러 오라고 소리치자마자 비록 고기 굽는 냄새가 강하게 나긴 했지만 아래층으로 뛰어 내려왔다. 나는 내 접시에 소시지와 야채가 가득 담겨 있는 것을 보았다. 막 한 입 베어 먹으려고 하는데 아빠가 부엌에 가서 소스 떠먹을 작은 스푼 세 개를 가져오라고 했다. 시키는 대로 했지만 부엌에 가자마자 고기 냄새가 역겨웠다. 나는 가능한 한 빨리 숟가락을 가지고 부엌을 빠져나왔다. 저녁을 먹는 동안 고기는 쳐다보기도 싫고 냄새도 맡기 싫었다. 가족들, 특히 언니가 얼마나 고기를 맛있게 먹는지가 보였다. 다른 가족들이 채식주의자가 아닌 것이 상관은 없지만 채식주의자이면 더 좋을 것 같다. 엄마는 애를 많이 써주시고 아주 잘 도와줘서 감사하게 생각한다.
