In one year, fourth-grade students in the South Bronx, way behind,

So the Native kids outdid the Microsoft kids.

This happened because the meaning of effort and difficulty were transformed.
이런 일은 ‘노력’과 ‘어려움’이라는 개념의 의미가 바뀌었기 때문에 가능했습니다.
Before, effort and difficulty made them feel dumb, made them feel like giving up.
예전에는 노력하거나 어려움에 부딪히면 자신이 멍청하다고 느끼고 포기하고 싶어졌습니다.
But now, effort and difficulty — that's when their neurons are making new connections, stronger connections.
하지만 이제는 노력과 어려움이야말로 뇌의 뉴런들이 새로운, 더 강한 연결을 만드는 순간입니다.
That's when they're getting smarter.
그때야말로 그들이 더 똑똑해지는 순간입니다.
