The Practice 라는 legal drama 가 있었습니다. 이 시리즈는 전혀 비현실적이지 않았고, 화려하지 않은 법정 주변의 현실을 참 잘 그려냈다는 생각이 드는 명작드라마 시리즈지요. 마지막 시즌 마지막 에피소드의 마지막 부분에 S08E22 - Cheers (a.k.a Adjourned- Series Finale) 흘러나온 노래를 소개합니다. Louis Armstrong 의 Hello, Brother 라는 노래로, 번역하자면 "어이, 자네" 정도면 될 듯 합니다.

(평범하고 성실한) 남자가 왜 사는지 아주 아련하게 써내려간 가사에, Armstrong 의 목소리를 통해 male bonding 이 느껴집니다. 이런 남자들의 바램이지요

"남자는 돈을 벌기 위해 일을 하고, 따스한 햇살이 내리쬐는 집에서 살고 싶고, 자신의 아내가 되고 싶어하는 여자가 있어주길 바라며, 아이들에게 더 많은 기회를 만들어주고 싶은 - 나와 동감일세, 자네."

아내와 애들만 빼면 저도 동감입니다.

그리 어렵지 않은 가사입니다. 구절 하나 하나 마음 속에 살포시 스며듭니다.
