A Thursday of Adapting Well to the New Semester (04/10/2025)
How do I feel today?
I feel so refreshed—perhaps because I had a sound sleep after feeling a bit tense for my first class yesterday.
What do I want to do today?
Reading, exercising, and practicing becoming the admired version of my future self.
Good
Yesterday was the beginning of the new semester and my first class. Although I was a bit nervous, I participated well and successfully practiced the silent discipline I had planned during the session.
Bad
I wasn’t able to keep the 30-minute rule and ended up being late to class. Next week, I’ll make sure to arrive 30 minutes early and start the class with ease. Since I have classes all day and need to work out in between, I’ll also make sure to pack enough snacks so I don’t get too hungry.
Today’s Learning
In that difficult effort, there is also freedom and confidence. There’s a joy that comes from being in a state of flow, and a rhythm created by what becomes second nature. As a result of practice, there is a calm serenity that comes from knowing exactly what to do when it matters. And from that, a sense of pride and confidence in being able to do it.
“I belong to a world where people don’t talk about doing the work—they actually do the work. So when I find myself unable to write, or too tired, or whatever the excuse may be, the right answer is always to just go and write.”
— Ryan Holiday
Today’s Realization
Looking back, March felt like a confusing time filled with monotony, uncertainty about the future, and doubts like “Am I doing this right?” But since the semester began, and I’ve had the chance to speak, debate, and write in person with others, I realized that I had improved more than I thought without even noticing it.
Even though I didn’t sleep well and my brain wasn’t in great condition for the first class, I was still able to perform because I had stuck to my routine without missing a day—even on days when I felt tired, unmotivated, or busy. That consistency allowed me to demonstrate my abilities during class.
I now believe more firmly that a routine isn’t just a habit—it’s the path that leads to results. And that belief gives me motivation.
I’ve come to understand that the answer to the question “What kind of person do I want to become?” lies in practicing even just one action that such a person would do today.
I’m also realizing that there isn’t a perfect path waiting somewhere for me to find. Instead, by walking forward step by step, that path gradually becomes mine—and eventually, it is my path.
Paths are created by walking them. Motivation is created by taking action. I’m learning these simple truths through my own body and experiences.
There is no force in the world as powerful as purity.
Never tell even the smallest lie. Always be pure, good, and sincere in everything.
Gratitude Note
I am truly grateful that I can start the day healthy and refreshed, without worries, and fill it with things I truly want to do.
