Walden

lake of wisdom

It takes a long time to read 'Walden' to the end.

The reason I couldn't let go of David Thoreau's work was that I was curious about what kind of thoughts he left and how he still has an impact on people.

it’s understandable that hard to perceive a decay ago philosophical essay for non-native speakers. It was difficult for me to understand the metaphorical expression and cultural differences expressed in Walden. But, I believe that some awakening will get me during the reading.

Thoreau went to a forest where isolated from the cultivated modern city life.

He tries to live by himself. Not only to build a small house but also to cultivate the land for food. He loves his Walden pond life, which is in nature, and himself to be one of the earth’s creatures. He can learn his identity alone and in isolated spaces.

Did the pond, the birds, the wild animals, the forest, and the wind teach him how to live in the world?

He could hear the voice of God from the sounds around him.

“How should I live?”

Walden and Civil Disobedience are very different books. I was surprised that Thoreau was the author of two books.

Martin Luther King Jr writes

“I became convinced that noncooperation with evil is as much a moral obligation as is cooperation with good. No other person has been more eloquent and passionate in getting this idea across than Henry David Thoreau. As a result of his writings and personal witness, we are the heirs of a legacy of creative protest.”

He went to the woods because he wished to live deliberately to front only the essential

facts of life. Maybe he earns the courage to fight the world with justice.

He asks his government that the slavery system and tyrannical imperialism to Mexico is right?

His clear spirits touch my mind “ Do you live consciously in your society?

Sometimes we have to go-to wood.
