Unseen Art

“Unseen Art” - inspired by Phyllida Barlow

Have you ever read a book that has never been published?

Have you ever seen a painting that has never been displayed?

A sculpture that’s never been exhibited?

A dance that has never been shown to people?

Have you ever heard a song that has never been released?

A poem that has never been recited?

A play that has never been performed?

Have you ever watched a film that has never been on screen?

There must be hundreds and thousands of artworks out there

That are hidden in one’s drawers, in closets and in storages in many forms

still breathing and dwelling in one’s fading moments and memories.

What good is there for those undisclosed pieces?

What’s the meaning of it all, if they can’t be known and renown?

Should they have never been created?

Should they have been just kept in one’s backdoor, in its abstractness?

An artist from ages ago once said,

Every creation is meant to fulfill its creator’s need.

What needs to be full?

What needs to be filled?

A creator pours his life in their creation

A part and an image of themselves,

Pieces of memories and regrets into them

Creations are markers

The markers of the creators’ life journey

They give spaces to step back and move forward

They give meaning

They give life

They give room to forgive and be forgiven

They must be written.

Pained and molded

Drawn and touched

Sung and played

Hung and displayed

Read and recited.

A creator’s job is to create

And a creation’s destination

Is another creator’s imagination.
