미드에서 본 표현들
hang out, go out, ask out 놀자, 사귀자, 데이트신청
요즘 미드를 보면서 영어공부를 하고 있습니다.
In these days, I am learning English through watching American Drama, so-called 'MiD'(미국드라마).
영어공부도 하고, 드라마도 보고 꿀잼이죠.
It's fabulous to enjoy the drama while learning English.
드라마를 보다보니 엄청나게 많이 나오는 대사들이 있더군요.
There are some sentences that were enormously used in these dramas.
오늘은 그런 표현들 몇 개를 정리해볼까 해요.
I am going to deal with some of them in this post.
1. 이게 누구야? Look, who's here!
오랜만에 누군가를 우연히 만났을 때 놀라움을 표현하고 싶을 때가 있죠?
There are several moments that we want to express our surpise, running across the aquaintance.
그럴 때 주인공은 큰 소리로 말합니다. 이게 누구야?
In this context, the character likes to say, "Look, who's here!"
2. 야! 너 어떻게 된거니? Look at you!
윗 문장과 비슷한 표현입니다.
This expression is similar to the previous one.
누군가를 만났는데, 그 사람에게 눈에 띌만한 변화가 있을 때 주인공은 이렇게 말합니다. "야! 너 어떻게 된거니?"
Meeting someone and finding a remarkable change through his or her appearance, the character is apt to say, "Look at you!"
예를 들면, 상대방이 임신했다거나, 아주 멋진 옷을 입었다거나 할 때 쓰는 말이죠.
For example, they use this expression when she is pregnant, or dress up very nicely.
비슷한 표현으로 이런 말도 자주 쓰더군요.
Likewise, they seem to use the following expression.
Look at me. What am I doing?
나 좀 봐(내 정신 좀 봐, 내가 뭐하는 것지?)
3. 내말이! I couldn't agree more. (직역: 이보다 더 공감하기는 어려울 거야!)
상대방의 말에 격하게 공감할 때가 있죠.
There are some moment when you strongly agree with someone else.
그럴 때 주인공들은 자주 이렇게 말하더군요, "내 말이!"
In that situation, characters tend to say, "I couldn't agree more!"
비슷한 말로는
I completely agree with you. (나 완전 공감해!)
I felt the same way. (나도 그렇게 생각했어)
4. hang out(같이 어울리다), go out(데이트하다), ask out(데이트 신청하다)
사랑 이야기는 드라마의 필수요건이죠.
Love stories are essencial for dramas.
다음 표현들은 너무나도 자주 접했기 때문에 한번 정리할 필요가 있을 것 같아요.
I've seen these expressions so many times, then we'd better check them over.
1) hang out 같이 어울리다 .
데이트 말고, 친구들과 어울릴 때는 주로 이 표현을 사용하더군요: 같이 영화를 본다거나 테마파크를 간다거나..
Instead of date, they use the expression when refer to do something together like go to the movies or theme park.
Do you wanna hang out with me this weekend?
주말에 나랑 놀러 나갈래?
2) go out 데이트하다.
정말 많은 미드에서 go out을 나가다라는 의미가 아닌 데이트하다는 의미로 사용하더군요.
In so many dramas, 'go out' is used to refer to go on a date, rather than literally going outside.
Do you go out with him?
너 그 사람이랑 사귀니?
3) ask out 데이트 신청하다.
이것도 정말 많이 사용하는 표현이더군요.
This is a highly used expression.
Did he ask you out?
그가 너한테 데이트 신청했어?
Are you going to ask her out?
그녀에게 데이트 신청 할거야?
Can I ask you out?
내가 데이트 신청해도 될까요?
1) I hung out with my friends yesterday.
나 어제 친구들이랑 놀았어.
2) To be honest, I went out with her.
나 사실 그녀랑 만나.
3) I asked her out but she has not yet replied.
그녀에게 데이트 신청했는데, 그녀는 아직 대답을 안 해줬어.
5. 나가서 맥주 마시거나 뭐 그런 거 어때요?
Would you like to go get some beer or something?
Do you wanna go get some drink or something?
