바람이 불 때나

햇볕이 따가울 때나

어둠이 내려앉을 때나

앙상한 가지에 새로 잎이 나고

그늘이 되어 누군가 땀을 식히고

저기, 외딴집에 외등 하나가

나의 긴 밤을 비추어

나에게 물어보는 그니는

나를 친구라고 불렀고

그니도 나무라고 말했지

or the sun shines brightly,

or when darkness descends,

new leaves sprout on bare branches,

and someone cools off in the shade,

and there, in a remote house, a single streetlight

illuminates my long nights,

and the one who asks me

called me a friend,

and said he, too, was a tree.
