못 보는 사람

어느 날 예수가 제자들과 함께 예루살렘 거리를 걸어가고 있었습니다.
그는 앞을 못 보는 한 남자를 보았습니다.
그 남자는 태어날 때부터 앞을 보지 못했습니다.
제자들이 물었어요, "그가 앞을 못 보는 건 그가 죄를 지었기 때문인가요, 아니면 그의 부모가 죄를 지었기 때문인가요?"
예수가 말했습니다, "누구의 죄 때문도 아니다. 이런 일이 일어났으므로 우리가 하나님의 일을 하는 것이다."
예수는 진흙을 이겨 그 남자의 눈 위에 발랐습니다.
"가라. 실로암('보냄 받다'는 뜻) 못에 가서 씻으라," 예수가 말했습니다.
남자는 못에 가서 진흙을 닦았어요. 그리고 눈을 뜨자 앞이 보였습니다!
그가 집에 돌아오자 사람들이 놀라 그를 성전으로 데리고 갔습니다.
남자는 유대 지도자들에게 예수가 한 일을 말했어요.
유대 지도자들은 *안식일에 예수가 기적을 행한 것에 몹시 화를 냈습니다.
그들은 그 남자가 예수를 욕할 것을 기대했어요.
그러나 남자는 말했습니다, "예수는 앞 못 보는 사람들을 보게 하는 능력이 있소."
유대 지도자들은 그를 성전 밖으로 내쫓았습니다.
예수가 그를 보자 말했습니다, "네가 하나님의 아들을 믿느냐?"
그가 말했어요, "주님, 제가 믿습니다," 그리고 그는 예수를 경배했습니다.
예수가 말했습니다, "못 보는 자가 볼 것이요, 보이는 자는 보지 못할 것이다."
예수와 함께 있던 바리새파 사람 몇 명이 물었어요, "뭐요? 그럼 우리가 앞을 보지 못한단 말이요?"
예수가 말했습니다, "네가 앞을 보지 못한다면 죄가 없을 것이나, 지금 네가 보인다고 말하니 네 죄는 그대로 남아있구나."
One day Jesus was walking in the city of Jerusalem with his disciples.
He saw a man who could not see.
This man had never been able to see since the time he was born.
The disciples asked to Jesus, "Is this man blind because he sinned, or is this man blind because his parents sinned?"
Jesus said, "This man is blind not because someone sinned. This happened so we can do God's work."
Jesus made some mud. He put the mud on the man's eyes.
"Go," Jesus said, "wash in the pool of Siloam(this word means 'Sent')."
The man went and washed off the mud. He opened his eyes, and he could see!
When the man went home, his neighbors were so surprised. They took the man to the temple.
The man told the leaders about what Jesus had done.
They were angry Jesus had done this miracle on the *Sabbath.
They wanted the man to say bad things about Jesus.
But he said, "Jesus has the power to make blind people see."
The leaders threw him out the door.
When Jesus found him and said, "Do you believe in the Son of Man?"
The man said, "Lord, I believe," and he worshiped Jesus.
Jesus said, "The blind will see and those who see will become blind."
Some Pharisees who were with him asked, "What? Are we blind too?"
Jesus said, "If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin, but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains."
<요한복음 9:1-41>
* 안식일(Sabbath)은 하나님을 예배하고 휴식을 취하는 특별한 날이다.
유대교에서는 이 날 모든 일을 멈추고 쉰다.
