I agree with the idea that the media has a negative impact on people in general.
In my opinion, what the media does is basically emphasize facts and try to find
sensitive issues to draw the audience's attention.
It result in too many worries and distractions for them.
Since people easily believe that the media only present fact, they tend to accept what
is said without any reflection.
I remember hearing from health program on TV, which was produced by one of the
major broadcasting companies in korea.
Basically, what they say was to start eating more carbs and vegetables but avoid fats,
and to eat three meals on a daily basis.
I had always tried to avoid fat, even healthy fats like butter. However, since they
did not mention avoiding vegetable oil (which are basically seeds oil that are
absolutely unhealthy), I didn't care how much I used when cooking.
In hindsight, I only realized that fats are actually the most precious nutrients amoge
the three major nutrients after reading a book called 밀가루 똥배 and 10 other
different books.
So If I hadn't tried to identify the truth, I might still be avoiding
eating fat, which would be silly.
To summarise, there are two reasons why the media has a bad influence on us.
First , they always try to find sensitive incidents, which are usually neagtive
and can easily draw people's attention.
Second, It's not always true what they say because they are too eager to find accurate information. In fact, there is a whole bunch of fake information circulating in our society.
Finally, I would you recomand that you aware of this situation and always keep it in mind whenever you encounter the media.
And if you're unsure about what they say, just do some research.
That will save you a lot of time like in the long run.
