실패가 두려워지지 않는 방법
성공한 사람들은 다들 하나같이 더 많은 실패를 해보라고 한다
실패가 두려워지지 않는 방법은 더 많은 시도를 하는 것이다. 내가 하게 될 시도가 지금 '브런치북 공모'라는 단 하나의 시도에 내 모든 것을 걸게 된다면 안되었을 때의 타격은 더욱 크게 다가올 수밖에 없다. 내가 공모전에 당선될지 여부는 제출을 한 시점에서 내 손을 떠났다. 더 많은 시간을 들일 수 있다면 더 준비를 철저히 하겠지만 남은 시간이 얼마 없을 때는 '마감 시간'을 준수해야 한다. 완벽한 걸작을 만들어어냈어도 마감기한이 지났다면 그건 평가조차 못 받기 때문이다.
브런치북 공모전에 제출하고 나서 바로 내가 한 일은 또 다른 시도를 하는 것이었다. 실패가 신경 쓰이지 않을 만큼의 수많은 시도를 하는 것. 그게 더 많은 시도를 하고 더 많은 기회와 닿을 수 있는 유일한 길이 아닐까 생각한다.

clamber : If you clamber somewhere, you climb there with difficulty, usually using your hands as well as your feet. (=scramble) ex) They clambered up the stone walls of a steeply terraced olive grove.
shove : If you shove someone or something, you push them with a quick, violent movement. ex) She shoved as hard as she could.
If you shove something somewhere, you push it there quickly and carelessly. ex) We shoved a copy of the newsletter beneath their door.
[INFORMAL] If you talk about what you think will happen if push comes to shove, you are talking about what you think will happen if a situation becomes very bad or difficult.
ex) If push comes to shove, if you should lose your case in the court, what will you do?
