다니엘서 12장 13절
Go Your Way and Wait
다니엘서 12: 13: 너는 가서 마지막을 기다리라. 이는 네가 평안히 쉬다가 끝날에는 네 몫을 누릴 것임이라.
다니엘은 이 모든 일의 끝이 어떻게 되겠냐고 질문합니다. 하나님은 그 물음에 직접적인 답을 주시지 않습니다. 대신 너는 가라. 그리고 마지막을 기다리고 그 끝이 무엇이든 지금 네 삶을 살라고 말씀하십니다.
이것은 하나님께서 답변을 회피하셨다기 보다는 우리가 도달할 수 없는 영역에 대한 신적 응답의 방식으로 봐야할 것 입니다.
우리는 끝날의 시기를 알고 싶어 하지만 종말이란 우리의 시간 바깥에 있는 사건입니다. 그 끝은 미리 계산하거나 예측하는 것이 아니라 살아낸 자들에 의해 해석되는 것입니다. 그러므로 오늘 다니엘에게 주어진 이 말씀은 종말에 대한 지식을 소유하려는 인간의 본능을 멈추게 하고 선포된 진리 안에서 살아가라는 존재론적 결단을 요청하는 말씀입니다.
다니엘은 하나님의 비전을 누구보다 많이 본 예언자였지만 모든 것을 이해한 채 삶을 마무리하지는 못했습니다. 여기서 하나님이 하신 "너는 평안히 쉬어라. 끝날에 네 몫을 내가 예비해 두었다"라는 말씀이 깊이 다가옵니다.
이것은 신앙의 본질이 지식이 아니라 신뢰임을 분명히 보여줍니다. 자신에게 주어진 길을 묵묵히 걸은 자에게 하나님은 보상이 아닌 몫을 주십니다. 그 몫은 수고의 대가가 아니라 인내의 결산, 이해의 깊이보다 신실함의 무게에 대한 하나님의 응답입니다.
삶은 종종 해석되지 않습니다. 어떤 계시는 끝까지 봉인된 채 남습니다. 그러나 하나님은 우리에게 모든 것을 이해해야만 걷는 것이 아니다. 끝까지 가는 그 걸음을 내가 기억하겠다라고 말씀하십니다.
결국 믿음이란 답이 없어도 길을 멈추지 않는 일입니다. 그 끝에 무엇이 기다릴지 알지 못해도 그 끝에 하나님이 계시리라는 믿음 하나로 오늘의 길을 걸어내는 것입니다. 이것이 신앙이며 종말을 기다리는 우리의 삶의 자세라고 믿습니다.
Daniel 12:13 : As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.
Daniel asks what the end of all these things will be. But God does not give a direct answer.
Instead, He tells him, “Go your way. Wait for the end. Live your life now, whatever the outcome may be.”
This is not divine avoidance, but rather a divine way of responding to a realm we are not meant to grasp. We often long to know the timing of the end, but the end does not belong to our time. The end is not something to be calculated or predicted, but something to be interpreted by those who have lived through it.
Therefore, God's word to Daniel today is not simply a personal instruction, but a call to all of us: Stop grasping for control over the unknown, and instead live within the truth already given. It is an ontological call, not just to know about the end, but to be a faithful witness in the midst of it.
Daniel, who saw more visions than perhaps any other prophet, did not finish his life with full understanding. And so, the words of God, “You will rest, and at the end, you will receive your portion,” resonate deeply.
This shows that the essence of faith is not knowledge, but trust. To the one who quietly walks the path given to them, God promises not a reward, but a portion. That portion is not the payment for effort, but the fruit of endurance, God's response not to the depth of our understanding, but to the weight of our faithfulness.
Life is often not something we can interpret. Some revelations remain sealed to the very end. But God says, “You do not need full understanding to keep walking. I will remember your steps to the end.”
Faith, then, is not stopping when there are no answers. It is walking the path even when we do not know what awaits us at the end, believing that at the end, God will be there. This, I believe, is faith. And this is the posture of those who wait for the end.
